Love Reviews

Mar 23, 2025

A more intensely erotic film, with nice shots, nice thinking, lots of gaspar, nothing else.

A raw film exhibiting the fine line of the emotion of love. Bordering between a chemically endorphin induced brain transformation to this sensation and the possibly unrealistic perceptions of an inseparable bond between two people. The overwhelming pleasure seeking, manifesting itself in immense passion. The awakening of the buried past childhood, or previous relationship trauma. The emotion of Love runs the gamut of falling for someone and as a result becoming acutely aware that in this vulnerable state one can be judged, controlled or abandoned. Love exposes insecurities which are often heightened. Here the couple tests the emotion by pushing boundaries and the pleasure principle with sexual trysts with strangers or group sex which immediately backfires with self doubt. Demonstrating the fragility of it all. The movie depicts this emotional and physical roller coaster ride, from beginning to end, with great bravery from the director and the leading actors, risking their future careers and personal and artistic world judgement in this unconventional film.

Beautiful cinematography, but the plot felt lazy to me. I didn't like the characters at all. Especially Murphy

This is another movie by Gasper Noe from the forbidden zone. This feels so realistic. And like his other movie, those transitions from present to past, just different cinematic and sound tango. Nudity, explicit is non simulated but other than that, the story kinda feels.

Por admirable que pueda ser el concepto, Love tiene mucho más ganas de exponer las escenas de sexo que el amor en si

Pointless and baseless view on relationships, trying so hard to break ‘taboos'.

Unfiltered depiction of the ideal romantic love faced with the vicissitudes of the worldly reality.

One of the truest, most raw love stories I have ever seen. Truest depiction of young passion on film.

Sexy and stylish but without substance, not developed charachters we can connect with. Besides some cute moments, the ¨love¨ story is completely sterile and superficial. Noé is provocative in the bad way, sacrificing a good story in order to give something to speak about. Oh, and is also poorly acted.

When you get right down to it not much happens over the course of 2 plus hours. I watched it all the way to the end anyway. I'm not sure if that means the film is good or simply compelling in the same way a train wreck or a car accident is compelling.

The sex scenes are incredibly awkward and uncomfortable. It's a boring toxic love story with a pathetic, irresponsible man and a troubled woman struggling with drug abuse. I found myself being able to guess every cliché that drudges it's way onscreen. There really are no likable characters besides the baby. The only good thing about this movie is that it bombed in the box office.

This film to me is so very special. Yes it's incredibly erotic, real life can be. Yes it's painful, real life can be. It is probably the bravest and most honest film I have ever seen made. It shows two incredibly believable characters falling head over heels in love, and then destroying that love through a combination of personal exploration and destruction, through drugs, drink, sexual kicks and jealousy. The sex is real and hot but not Holywood false, but what really sex is like within a passionate, living, erotic relationship. This honesty sexually, is fantastic to see a director take this head on, the characters through the fact they don't simulate sex are immediately transformed in the viewers eyes into an authentic couple, and so their hurt and ecstasy is all the more heartfelt in return by the audience. I loved the haunting, melancholy of the soundtrack that fits perfectly with the pain of the main characters. Paris of course is a beautiful city brimming with architectural beauty both externally and internally provides a classy and at times effectively seedy backdrop. The way the film is shot so that you can see the love shaped heart between the couples silhouette throughout the film is so heartwarming and works cinematographically. I adore this film. Pure, and as the main character Murphy states at a party he attends as a student film maker, life is about love and sex. He wants to make a sentimental film that is also truly sexual and not superficial and false. The irony of course is that he is starring in the exact film he wishes to make. The three main actors that form the love triangle and ménage a trois are superIn throughout the film , and their performances, especially two main actors that play Murphy and Ekektra, will be hard to eclipse. Watch this on your own or with your soul mate in total silence and be engrossed in the characters love, just as the Director wants you to be. If you don't get this film, you have never felt the pain and ecstasy of a dysfunctional and toxic love affair. You are also probably a little let's say vanilla and dead from the waste down. One of my Top 5 films of all time. I am grateful to have seen it and understood it.

the worst movie in history. seriously don't watch this movie

This movie is one of my least favorite movies I have ever seen. In fact, I disliked it so much that I created a Rotten Tomatoes account just to share with the world my thoughts about Love, since I felt as though some of the other reviews were lacking description of what made the movie so utterly terrible. Luckily, the movie can not be labeled one of the worst movies of all time because the cinematography of it was fantastic and at times, even beautiful. Beyond that, there is not a single other compliment the movie deserves. Clearly the makers of the movie were trying to reach a deeper meaning with the film, to create something out of sperm, blood and tears that reflected on sexual sentimentality. That lofty idea is fascinating for a film however this movie falls flat on its face trying to reach it. Each scene in Love is shockingly slow and bland with mediocre acting and entirely boring and unlikable characters. The dialogue is more of the same boring content. For this reason, I thought that I could look forward to the graphic sex that occurs almost every other scene throughout this movie, hoping for some excitement. Once again, I found myself underwhelmed by scenes that were gratuitous and slow, with few exemptions. It seams as though these scenes were more about the film making than the sex and therefore went the same pace as can be expected from geriatric patients. Even worse than the dialogue and the snail paced sex was the feeling of being on a depressant drug that the film gave. The reason for the slow pace of the film seamed to be that the audience was supposed to feel as though they were as high or drunk as the characters were the entire movie. For someone who does not spend their life high, the drugs just seamed to make the movie drag on while at the same time making the characters entirely unrelatable or likable.

If Kristen Stewart was a guy, she would be Karl. Holy crap this movie was awful. The director used gratuitous, explicit sex-scenes to fill time for the movie since the plot certainly wasn't doing anything. I hated this movie so much it motivated me to make an account here just to tell others how crappy this movie was.

Murphy is a RAGING asshole, a truly detestable character with an even less appealing sexual repertoire. This movie is slightly beautiful, but mostly hollow and frustrated.

Has an air of pretentiousness that Noe's films end up possessing, however unintentional. It's obvious this film was supposed to break the boundaries, as even our protagonist states at one point. However, I found this film flat and mostly dull, padding a long run time that seemed unnecessary. Yeah, there's a lot of sex, which, if that's your thing, go for it. But it does not add anything to the conversation about Noe's vision of a film centering around sentimentality and sex intertwined. Noe does not seem to grasp that just putting a bunch of sex in a movie and then making said sexual partners argue does not equal a groundbreaking film. The characters were poorly developed. The only good scenes were those in the bathroom; the parallels. One with our protagonist and his young son, and then our protagonist and the girl he just can't get over. Only remotely powerful thing, in my opinion.
