Love & Basketball Reviews
A beautiful story!! Not just a love story but an inspiring film about going after your dreams and the passion it takes to do so.
Brilliant film and a beautiful story.
Enjoyed it for the most part but the story feels a little stunted with its presentation, especially the rushed conclusion.
This movie is flawless
It was good but kind of typical for this genre. I'd probably not want to watch it again. It's worth checking out.
"Love & Basketball" is a slam-dunk romance film, intertwining the love story of childhood friends Monica and Quincy with their passion for basketball. Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps deliver compelling performances, and the movie explores themes of ambition and personal growth. While it captivates with relatable characters and emotional depth, occasional plot meandering and underdeveloped subplots hinder the overall experience. Nonetheless, the film's soulful soundtrack adds to its charm. "Love & Basketball" is a heartwarming portrayal of love and dreams, celebrating the thrill of the game while showcasing the intensity of relationships both on and off the court."
A beautiful love story about 2 people with a love for basketball. I watched this movie growing up and it's just as good now as it was then.
Love and Basketball is an absolute classic! Everything about this movie. The casting. The story. The Director's calling card film and IMO, the #1 hoops film ever released. A sequel would be interesting, knowing that the WBNA is now at a different level. For it to have a chance, Gina Prince-Bythewood has to direct. Any film she does is gold! :)
Powerful story, beautifully acted, strong writing, and women's basketball. I loved it.
It's OK. He's a basketball star falling in love. Gotta deal with his love for basketball and his relationship.
One of the greatest basketball movies ever. 10/10.
Perfectly captures the vicissitudes of life using basketball as a lens.
GAHHHHHH. This movie made me feel like I was seated on some old lady's porch watching life play out before my eyes. Simply spectacularly written and the actors, don't even get me started on the actors. The dad. and my gay friend LUUUUUUVED the basketball girl. Overall a 10 out 10 in terms of physical and emotional eye candy. Watch it again and you might sign yourself up to a rec league. Monica deserved better but shtill men are going to keep swanging that thang.
Really enjoyable film. This film fills the demographic of a good majority of adults; if you're into sports or love stories then this is something for you. Overall good acting from both leads. I enjoyed the story and setting, the changes time brings. Worth a watch. 7/10
If you are a hooper you will love this movie. No matter your age check it out. In my top 25 all time.
The greatest movie about basketball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An interesting (if not especially alluring) conjunction, neither "or" nor "of", but love "and" basketball, a film about two competing passions and the passion of competing.
It's tender, it's nuanced, it's beautiful. One of the best movies featuring a black romance, not impeded by any hood story. It's just black people being people and women trying to figure out how to be loved while being excellent and having that not be a problem to a man. In my top 4 all-time movies and perhaps my #1 for its genre.
