Love the Coopers Reviews
This was a very interesting movie. I did not watch it just for Timothée Chalamet...definity not. It encompasses a family and all the struggles of being in one. It was a great Christmas movie though and I did enjoy it.
I love watching this movie - multiple times every Christmas since discovering it. It’s a Christmas movie - it’s fun, funny, awkward, kind, and sassy too. The music helps to make it great for me…I’m a sucker for Diane Keaton, and I like this movie much more than The Family Stone.
The writing is so forced and akward even this talented cast cannot pull it off. I did not Love the Coopers.
A well observed intertwining story of the pressures of family life and the expectations we put on ourselves all through an amplified lens of Christmas. Whilst there are some less effectives moments, it worth more than the 18% score
I really enjoyed this heart warming movie. I even cried in the end.
I love this film. Great cast, so perhaps should have realised it would be this good. Watched it twice on consecutive nights the first time I saw it and have watched it several times since. Has become the must see film at Christmas in our house. Warm, clever and uplifting. A total hidden gem
Loved this movie. Very heartwarming.
Christmas means comfort, joy and chaos. Love the Coopers (titled Christmas with the Coopers in the UK and Ireland) is a 2015 American Christmas comedy-drama film directed by Jessie Nelson Can’t recommend it. Meh, it passed the time. Sort of. 😕 When four generations of the Cooper clan come together for their annual Christmas Eve celebration, a series of unexpected visitors and unlikely events turn the night upside down, leading them all toward a surprising rediscovery of family bonds and the spirit of the holiday.
I started out thinking this would be a fun respectful movie but became very disappointed. As a Christmas movie I had an expectation that there would be recognition of the Holy Day that is celebrated by the family that gathered together. This did not happen. When the family is at the table ready to dig in, the soldier said something like, "what about saying Grace?" Everyone seemed to believe that was a good idea except that no one knew how to say a prayer. The soldier volunteered to say a prayer but part of the way through it the family got wild, interrupted the prayer flailed their arms and showed more disrespect than had there been no reference to a prayer. It was awful and the soldier was left looking embarrassed as though he had done something wrong. At that disrespectful moment the movie became a 1 star. I can't help but wonder how such a monstrous mistake was made. My thoughts turned sour and I wondered what Americans believe in when they think about Christmas. Santa Claus? presents? Mistletoe? but not our Saviour? I am very sad!
Oh, this movie gets an extra star just because it's a Christmas movie. it's not good at times it is mixed up and confusing. But still, there is something about it that I watch it every year. Talk about privileged people everyone has a problem. They are all hurt and mad and weird for no reason after all they have everything and should be happy but they are not. It is the course of not having to struggle not having to suffer those really bad things so they create them. Struggling makes you appreciate things.
Interesting movie with a decent touch of humor. The movie is all over the place but decent if you want a cheesy romance comedy.
I love this movie, and I especially love the relationship between Bucky and Ruby!
Absolutely awful movie, do not waste your time!
I absolutely loved the movie with its fun and interesting characters and stories. The cast was incredible and it was filmed so well it had me thinking and reflecting throughout the entire film. It even had its funny moments andI loved the twist at the end when you find out who's narrating the film. Amazing Christmas movie!
I watched this on a DVD recently which was titled "Christmas with the Coopers" and I did not like it. It's well made, has a decent enough story and a talented cast, but I found it really depressing for a Christmas movie. The trouble is it's just too honest in the way it portrays family life, and it just reminded me of some of my own family Christmases and how bad they were. It's not what I want to think about at a time of year when statistically people break up more and the suicide rate increases. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I like superficial Christmas movies that entertain, amuse and lift my mood. Is that too much to ask for? It is Christmas after all!
Movie seems to have indifferent reviews but it has a strong cast and I thought it was a nice film based on one family gathering but 4 stories ( all nice in their own right) Good film for couples at Christmas
Not sure why it has such a poor rating. This movie has become one of our Christmas staples. Love the cast and the story.
I find it disheartening that people did not like this movie. I loved it. Heartwarming, humorous all in one.
It's one of those millions of Christmas movies which express absolutely nothing, though I have to say that this one stands a bit above most of the others and doesn't force you to switch channels after only 5 minutes. Yes, I did a bit of fast-forwarding, but all in all it is acceptable enough to while away an hour, or 90 minutes, in case you don't speed it up.
Chaos of several christmas movies and Stranger Than Fiction mushed together. The story is messier than it's characters. We get manic pixie dream girl in an airport for a little twist. Diane Keaton gets to play Sybill Stone in alternative timeline, å la Sliding Doors. Oh, and a random hippie sing-a-long, you know like everyone has at Christmas. I just wish the great actors got utilized better, but they were all just typecast caricatures of better roles they are known for.
