Jerry (Rock Hudson) is a slick adman who uses women and booze to woo his clients. One day, his tactics draw the ire of Carol (Doris Day), an executive at a rival agency, who reports him to the Ad Council. Jerry deflects Carol's accusations using the testimony of a nightclub performer (Edie Adams), whom he pays off with a starring spot in a fake ad campaign. Another Doris Day and Rock Hudson film featuring their iconic chemistry and hilarious banter. Lover Come Back's story is less favorable, though, as it's a facsimile of their superior romantic comedy, Pillow Talk.

A better script than most Doris Day pics, in fact this might be the best of them all when she's teamed with Hudson. It was witty, silly, and irreverent. All based in NYC. I saw it since it was on the NYT 1000 movies list. SLC DVD.

This is all you want from a 'DD' picture. You just wait for the tropes. This has a great script, a charming but naughty Rock Hudson and a colour scheme which marks it as basically a live action cartoon. Life was never like this...of course not! It's Hollywood.

Yet another classic from Doris Day, Rock Hudson, and Tony Randall. It builds up on Pillow Talk while eliminating the very tiny mistakes that were present there. Though the ending may seem rushed, the rest of the movie is at perfect pacing, with intelligence being noticeable in the story, script, dialogue, quips, characters... The comedy and funny situations are remarkable as well. Those behind Lover Come Back knew how to perfectly refine it to leave a timeless classic behind.
