arvind s Another debutant director brings us another Basil Joseph movie. Maranamass boasts of an interesting cast with the likes of Siju Sunny (also the writer), Suresh Krishna and Rajesh Madhavan among others. Set in a non-descript town in Kerala, a serial killer known as the Banana Killer is hunting elderly men. One night, the serial killer finds himself in the same bus as his target. But to get to him he has to deal with the driver, the conductor, an unpopular sigma male and his ex-lover. Maranamass has its moments. There are quite a few of them but they are mostly in the first half of the movie. Rajesh Madhavan gives us yet another memorable performance as the Banana Killer. He is terrifying at times. Suresh Krishna shines as Jikku, the bus driver, who is finally getting hitched. Siju Sunny gets to do something different, as a man who is in search of his father. Basil Joseph has nailed every role he has been cast in but as Luke, you don't feel the typical Basil magic. Anishma Anilkumar is the weakest link in this ragtag group. Maranamass works in parts. The movie starts off well with witty moments in the first half. But after the interval, excessive drama ruins the flow of the otherwise fast paced movie.
