On October 28th, 2023, the news that actor Matthew Perry was found dead at home in Los Angeles shocked the world. In his memoir, "Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing,” he had told his story of battling addiction, and when ketamine was found in his system, it was thought by many that he had died from an overdose. Nearly a year later, a bombshell announcement: five people, including Perry's personal assistant, two medical doctors, and an alleged Hollywood drug dealer known as "the Ketamine Queen" were charged with conspiracy to illegally provide Perry with the ketamine. The special explores the case as two of the defendants, who have pleaded not guilty, await trial. In MATTHEW PERRY: A HOLLYWOOD TRAGEDY, the story of Perry's rise to fame is interwoven with the harrowing story of his final days, as his assistant allegedly sought ketamine from sources the U.S. Attorney claims "should have known better." We hear from some of Perry’s collaborators, Hollywood insiders, and law enforcement in telling this tragic Hollywood story.

Nick J Extraordinarily lucky, mediocre acting talent doesn't appreciate his luck and turns out to be an entitled addict. How, exactly, is this a tragedy? I think it's disgusting his stepdad went after his dealers. He would have gotten it from somewhere else if these particular people didn't get it for him. They are not to blame, only Matthew is to blame. He was on a very overrated sitcom, and played one character his entire career, that's it. Stop glorifying this guy. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/02/25 Full Review Birithivy Y Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy - 3/10. RIP Matthew Perry. You were a super talented comedic actor, and you helped give a lot of people happiness and hilarity through your role in Friends and in your other work. Addiction is a detrimental and devastating thing to deal with, and I hope others can overcome their addictions in anyway shape or form. I feel like this was a very in poor taste attempt by Peacock to inadvertently capitalize on the demise of the actor. This is a very strange doc, as the majority of the people interviewed here never had any first hand experiences or interactions with the man. Nice of Morgan Fairchild to agree to be in this as she obviously was his mother on Friends. But otherwise, this felt like a fan fiction doc. Also, I don’t know why: this felt a little bit in bad taste by Peacock. Especially because Perry was one of the reasons why NBC was ruling the ratings in the 90’s/00’s. The least they could have done was honour him in a more amazing way, but here, it felt like something I would see on Tubi to be honest. Disappointing! Only because it's based on Perry that's why its a pass. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/01/25 Full Review Read all reviews
