What to Know

Critics Consensus

A star-studded turkey, Movie 43 is loaded with gleefully offensive and often scatological gags, but it's largely bereft of laughs.

Francesca Steele Independent (UK) This is a film so utterly devoid of laughs that it makes one wonder whether Hollywood stars really are feeling the pinch too. Aug 10, 2017 Full Review Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com There is not a single redeeming quality to this absurdly inane film. Rated: F Apr 17, 2015 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Despite all the gross-out humor, the most offensive thing about this is the lazy filmmaking; every shot feels like a first take, and the haphazard editing precludes any comic timing. Feb 4, 2013 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com My first 'F' of 2013! Rated: 0/4.0 Sep 17, 2020 Full Review David Keyes Cinemaphile.org By the end you can't entirely be sure whether you have watched a film or participated in a eulogy for the careers of its participants. Rated: 0.5/4 May 9, 2019 Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal There is even money on a man with a gun just outside the frame at any given moment here ... except in "Happy Birthday," where Gerard Butler looks legitimately elated and excited to portray a pair of foul-mouthed, genital-mutilating leprechauns. Max B Whoever posted a negative review must be depressed or dumb because this is the most intelligent funny laugh out loud movie I’ve watched in my life. This will stay in my top 10 movies for life. Edgy, complex, out of the box, contemporary, no holds barred gun to your head humour. Love love love it and if you don’t like it, you’re just an idiot and it is totally okay Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/12/25 Full Review Stephen C This movie is a failure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nobody likes this flick. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/10/25 Full Review Dale P Honestly, I don't get why everyone hates on this. Watching this the first time I never laughed so hard lol! Hugh Jackman with balls on his neck was amazing lmao Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/09/25 Full Review Audience Member I Bought This Movie on Prime as it was cheap= Loved It. I trip all the negative reviews. It's immature- but I still thought it was very funny. The scene where Jackman lifts his neckballs to show his scar, and then nonchalantly sniffs his fingers, it was so subtle but I Howled= b/c that is SO something a dude would do. The Pratt scene was also super funny. It's not gonna win an oscar but its a nice piece of irreverence. It belongs in your collection. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/04/25 Full Review kate r I watched this film after seeing one of the skits -which I thought was hilarious . The movie actually ruined this science form me - many of the skits are not even funny - senseless and gross. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/01/25 Full Review Chris R This movie is all over. It's like numerous different small movies clips wrapped together to make 1 movie. Each one has it's weird odd parts. It's like a goof movie.
