The Muppet Christmas Carol Reviews

Apr 13, 2025

This film is hella good. Best adaptation of the story and just trul, truly amazing. The songs are super catchy and fun, and it lacks most of the cheesy comedy found in other muppet entries. Best muppet movie. I watch every simgle Christmas. Its amazing. I love it.

It's my all-time favourite adaptation of Dickens' timeless classic. As an adult, I find myself enjoying it even more, catching all of the subtleties I missed as a child. It deserves to be in the 90+% area here on RT. It's heartwarming, memorable, superbly shot and written, and the songs are fantastic also.

Without a doubt one of the best versions of 'A Christmas Carol ' to date. It is worth watching for Michael Caines performance alone. The usual slapstick Muppet mayhem, set amongst classic Dickens. This really is a must watch Christmas film.

Funny, heartwarming, and indulgently whimsical, this rendition of Charles Dickens’ classic is perfect for a family movie night. Michael Caine’s earnest performance as Scrooge carries the film dramatically against the hilarious backdrop of muppets.

Good movie. But holy hell... Why did they make the Ghost of Christmas past so damn terrifying?

An underrated holiday classic

My annual Christmas movie tradition 🎄❤️

It dives into the darker edges of Dickens’ tale, a gutsy move for a children’s adaptation.

Fun movie. Yes it’s old and yes it’s puppets but the story is told in way that it’s funny, charming and great. Gonzo and ratzo hold it all together. Love this movie.

Possibly the best Muppet movie and one of the best versions of the Christmas Carol. Acting is amazing as well as the puppet work. The muppet comedy doesn't ruin the classic story, actually the silly parts have been placed perfectly.

Possibly the best version of a Christmas carol ever, it's hilarious, the fabulous songs stay with you all year, the script never gets old and the sets and Muppets are amazing. I watch this at least 3 times a year because it's a family tradition. Micheal Caine is the ultimate Scrooge. The kids love it, the adults love it and we think it is the best film at Christmas and is in our top ten movies ever. A definite must- see.

Not just one of the best adaptions of A Christmas Carol, not just one of the best Christmas films, possibly one of the best films ever made.

The Muppet Christmas Carol is the magnum opus of chrristmas movies while The Muppets themselves are the ones who stand but the true star of film goes to none other than Michael Caine, in my opinon this might be one of the best films he's done since "The Italian Job" this movie is a must watch i highly recomend it.

A festive favourite of ours is 1992s 'The Muppet Christmas Carol'. SYNOPSIS: 'Scrooge, an old miser who dislikes Christmas, is visited by spirits who foretell his future and share secrets from his past and present, which helps change his view on life.' There are so many versions of this classic story, but this might be the most fun. It's not the most rigorous of Christmas Carol adaptations, although it is a lot more faithful than expected. There's a lot to love here as the Muppets pile on the wit and slapstick, they never dumb down, and never compromise their story's literary origins. It is a great Muppets movie, if not one of the best! 8/10

Essentially a perfect all-age Christmas film, that of course benefits from a timeless story and the irresistible muppets. Michael Caine's decision to play Scrooge as seriously as if he was in Hamlet is inspired, the result being a performance for the ages. The comedy is delivered perfectly, the songs work well, and the heart of the story and its meaning is intact. That we get all this, fart gags, a joke about an omniscient narrator, and ice-skating penguins is gilding the lily. I rewatched it this time with my two teenagers (their first viewing); in the first five minutes it was 'WTAF Dad?' ... within fifteen they were laughing, singing and deliriously happy right through to the end. Some films are bullet-proof.
