Nicotina Reviews
Great movie. Love it.
One of the best Mexican movies ever. I wonder why Mexicans love to make movies with cruel endings? Interesting plot and acting was good by most part. Some scenes were kind of funny.
much like the movie points out the difference between "ahora" and "ahorita" this is a great example of the unique flavor of mexican cinema.
fun movie... boy could I relate with the hacker... I mean, his crush on the neighbor... been there done that... DOH. what?
All the performances were good. This film is like "Pulp Fiction" where the stories are connected in some way. Diego Luna & Lucas Crespi are very handsome.
(From: Mexico / Argentini) Aber der spielt echt ganz oberste Liga...! Absolut Top!
The best Latin dark-comedy I've ever seen. One of the most unpredictable and intricate plots in Latin cinema. I have to admit that it takes a little while for the story to take off, but when it does it takes you on a rollercoaster ride you will not forget. I loved the fact that several characters come from various Spanish speaking nationalities because that added a lot to the appeal and humor of the movie. The title of the movie is very closely related to many conversations about smoking you witness all through the movie. But those are mere pieces to a fun puzzle you see complete at the very, very end. I also loved the fact that Diego Luna's character keeps trying to light his cigarrette without success throughout the entire movie. And when he finally lights it, he does not get to smoke it. A non-Spanish speaking friend of mine was reading a book in the same room I was watching this movie. The movie caught her attention nonetheless, and she forgot about the book. That says a lot about how powerful this movie is. PS: this movie is rated R.
Wow, finally this film is out on DVD. I missed its theatrical run, and that's too bad. It's a darkly funny caper film about amateur thieves in pursuit of a bag of diamonds. Great ensemble cast. Paul Chambers, CNN.
I could see how people think that this movie is a rip-off of Tarantino's work. Still, I enjoyed the plot and acting.
Nah, this was a rather sappy late-night experience. The collective reaction was that this was a Argentinian soap with too much shooting. The female characters were idiotic, the young males based on some "becoming a man" anime-cliche, the old males were plain unsympathetic. The psychological layer sucked in other words. The action was boring also, predictable and a not quite understandable. And the attempts at slapstick were embarrassing. Seems I didn't like this one that much. :P
