Nine Days Reviews
Peaked performative transcendence is evident through this existential examination embraced with utter conviction towards meaningful and perceptual slice-of-life attributions that can be diegetically grasped, besides the convoluting conceptual reasoning in the base of this compelling direction. (B+)
NINE DAYS is one of the most captivating films I have ever seen. I loved the premise. And all of the characters. I found it complex, challenging, deeply and creatively stimulating, and rewarding. It took me a couple of viewings to fully grasp and digest. And then . . . I watched it 5 more times and found that I want to share some thoughts about it with Edson Oda. Seven total viewings over the course of a couple of weeks! I've never done that in my life. And I have no regrets. Quite the opposite. It was time well spent. I recommend it HIGHLY.
What a beautiful movie! It’s one of the few films you will ever see that everything just fits perfectly: the actors, the soundtrack, the dialogues, the rhythm…. It is a very introspective journey about all the doubts and certainties one can have in life. It is just brilliant!
This was a great life affirming movie with rich and nuanced characters. It was a bit long (2hrs) and could have been edited down. Highly recommend
good concept but my god it was boring and dull and dragged for way too long than it should be, I couldn't keep watching as I was falling asleep so I just skipped to the end to see what happened and Im glad I did don't waste your time
Great movie for sad people.
I did not like the movie, I don't think the characters are well defined, I don't think anybody has made a great perfromance. It should make you think, but it made me not thinking, just about how better the movie could have been.
This movie trips over its own feet. What a great idea they beat to a dull pulp.
Amazing. Very immersed throughout with both a beautiful ending and a feeling of desire for life left afterwards. Highly recommend.
Slow paced but with a great crescendo, acting brings you to an up-close evolution towards life and the appreciation of the little things
It may read a bit like a story written by a teenager that first thought of combining theology with science fiction. But even if teetering a bit on saccharine high-brow melancholy, it feels real and heartfelt. I _almost_ cringed at the ending monologue but as it built on, it grew in grandeur and was an apt ending to the movie. I enjoyed this movie and it's world-building immensely. Also each character was distinct and delivered their part.
Simple. Profound. I wish there were more movies like this. And I admire the brains that can deliver such creative and inventive tales.
Grazie Edson Oda per questo film!
As soulless and lifeless and life-sapping as a Human Resources department, Nine Days is the obverse. Full of existential nudges, it dares not push nor pull, hire nor fire, arrest nor develop. A remarkable indie film with a full roster (Zazie Beetz, Winston Duke, Bill Skarsgard, Benedict Wong, Tony Hale) that gives me a serious Jones for whatever director Edson Oda has planned next.
Such an innovative and emotional journey about the afterlife. A small but heavy film.
Absolute nonsense, one of those films clever people pretend has meaning. Probably discussed in wine bars a lot by people drinking expensive vinegar.
Utterly superb! This movie is stunningly written and directed, with amazing performances from all of the cast. Incredible soundtrack too. It is so perfect, and left me reeling, so moved by its impact and floored by it's brilliance.
A philosophical film that had me thinking the whole time, about the scenes as well as my own existence.
Clever, enigmatic … and tediously uneventful.
