O'Dessa Reviews

May 1, 2025

The beginning is a tad bit slow, it will make sense as you watch. Great movie.

Enjoy this one. Reading the polarized reviews was fascinating. Thinking folks who hated it probably hated Rocky Horror in their past life.

After seeing 5 star reviews on this movie, I*m now understanding why the film industry has become so disappointing over the years. This is one of those movies you randomly choose, then become irate that you wasted time watching it. I*ve never heard of this singer until this movie, but if this was meant to help launch her career into the next level, this was a questionable way of doing so. I*ll be sure to skip anything I see that includes the name of this person. If you*re going to watch this because it*s listed under the ※sci-fi§ genre, save yourself the time.

※Freedom and love go together. Love is not a reaction. If I love you because you love me, that is mere trade, a thing to be bought in the market; it is not love. To love is not to ask anything in return, not even to feel that you are giving something- and it is only such love that can know freedom.§ 求 J. Krishnamurti

I decided to watch this hearing it was like Repo, and it is not. Don*t waste your time. Awful movie, terrible plot, terrible acting. Just all around bad.

The opening was little decent and kinda weird angle but the whole movie was worth to watch. The ending of movie I don't what is going happen next? I liked and enjoy it.

Damn# this is weird# she can sing# but the movie is weird# and Disney against the entertainment conglomerate seems double-faced# I don*t know it*s weird.

Geremy Jasper's O'Dessa is a post-apocalyptic rock opera that aspires to blend musical innovation with dystopian storytelling. Featuring Sadie Sink as the titular O'Dessa, the film follows her journey through a barren wasteland to reclaim a stolen family heirloom and fulfill a prophetic destiny. Despite its ambitious premise, O'Dessa falters in execution, resulting in a disjointed and unsatisfying cinematic experience. Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, steps into the spotlight as O'Dessa, a character prophesied to save her world through music. While Sink's previous performances have demonstrated her capability, here she is hampered by a script that offers little depth or development. Her portrayal lacks the charisma necessary to carry the weight of the narrative, leaving audiences disconnected from her quest. Kelvin Harrison Jr. portrays Euri Dervish, 角 lounge singer and O'Dessa's love interest. Their on-screen chemistry is virtually nonexistent, rendering their romantic subplot unconvincing and devoid of emotional impact. Regina Hall's Neon Dion, a local crime boss, and Murray Bartlett's Plutonovich, a tyrannical game show host, serve as the film's antagonists. Both actors seem constrained by their roles, unable to inject the necessary menace or complexity into their characters. Jasper's direction attempts to meld elements of Americana folklore with European fairy tales and science fiction. However, this fusion results in a muddled aesthetic that lacks coherence. The film's pacing is erratic, with scenes that meander without purpose, leading to a narrative that feels both rushed and interminable, The screenplay is laden with clich谷d dialogue and predictable plot points, offering no fresh perspective or insight into the genre. The world-building is superficial at best, failing to immerse viewers in the dystopian setting or provide a believable backdrop for the story. Cinematographically, O'Dessa relies heavily on neon-drenched visuals and stylized set pieces. While certain frames exhibit a striking use of color and design, they often feel derivative, echoing superior films without adding original flair. The overuse of plasma hues and retro-futuristic motifs comes across as a desperate attempt to evoke nostalgia rather than serving the narrative. The editing lacks rhythm, with musical sequences abruptly interrupting the flow of the story, further disengaging the audience, The musical component, ostensibly the film's centerpiece, is its most glaring weakness. The original songs are forgettable, with lyrics that are both trite and uninspired, Numbers meant to be anthemic fall flat, failing to elicit any emotional response or advance the plot meaningfully. The choreography is uninventive, and the performances lack the energy required to invigorate the musical interludes. Given Jasper's background in music videos, one would expect a more dynamic and engaging integration of music and narrative, but here it feels disjointed and superfluous. Thematically, O'Dessa endeavors to explore concepts of destiny, love, and rebellion. However, these themes are handled with such a lack of subtlety and depth that they fail to resonate. The film's attempts at social commentary are superficial, offering no substantial critique or insight into the human condition. Comparisons to classics like Mad Max or The Rocky Horror Picture Show only serve to highlight O'Dessa's shortcomings, as it lacks the innovation and boldness that made those films iconic, In conclusion, O'Dessa is a film that collapses under the weight of its own ambitions. Despite a promising cast and a concept ripe with potential, ?t delivers a lackluster and forgettable experience. The disjointed direction, shallow characterizations, uninspired music, and derivative visuals culminate in a movie that neither entertains nor enlightens. For those seeking a compelling musical or a gripping dystopian tale, O'Dessa regrettably offers neither.

It's a film that could have been bigger than it ended up being. It had good intentions and plenty of powerful plots, but it misses the mark on some decisions that diminish its potential, leaving it wanting more than enough for this musical to finally make its return to the big screen. Its streaming platform is perfect because it's a perfect film to watch at home without regretting whether you spent your money well or not. It's worth seeing for its lead character, its music, and its style; without setting high expectations, you can simply find a reward in an interesting musical that ends up being poorly executed.

Buscar an芍lisis de expertos en psicolog赤a infantil.

Really enjoyed the music and I just appreciate anything that's different than all the other same old cookie cutter bs.

If you*re gonna make a musical, the music needs to fit the theme of the movie and be at least decent. Odessa could have been a cool movie with a completely different composer and style of music. The folky country type songs do not fit the post apocalyptic scifi look of the film. Acting, cinematography, and look are all pretty cool. Just the music ruins it.

The second her mom dies she burns the house down and hits the road. Oh yeah, and after hugging her llama that she clearly loves# she just opens the pen & leaves it behind too to watch the house burn. That was so crappy and makes you really lose interest in what happens next to the main character. ??﹦? Sadie is great# but this movie was awful.

Great movie! Sadie sink gave her heart out for this role. She is an amazing singer. Love the production design and costumes. The other actors including Regina Hall and Kelvin Harrison Jr. did a good job too. Great music. A must-watch.

Wasn't sure what to expect. I went in with an open mind. The movie kept my attention. I had no idea what was going to happen next. It kind of had a Terminator ending but it was still gratifying. Sadie Sink has a wonderful voice. Would watch again just to hear her sing. Worth a look.

In a world of rinse, repeat, and recycle movies this stood out for me. I like the weirdness and music. Sadie Sink is very talented. I loved her voice. It might be to artsy for some but I enjoyed the genre blending operatic aspect of it. Is it a bit cliche at points, Yes. Would I watch it again, absolutely. I enjoyed it and it's difference. It is a post apocalyptic musical popcorn ride that is worth seeing.

I think it is just a beat off from being a really great film ringing of Baz Luhrmann*s Romeo and Juliet and HBO*s Euphoria. I liked the plot and simplicity of the film. Musically it is one of the better films highlighting music this year. The message was prescient too. I think something in the pacing or editing just slightly missed the mark, but overall better than I was expecting.

Mar 24, 2025

Definitely some flaws in the plot which is a shame but the cast and the music are fantastic so 100% must-see! Sadie Sink is really amazing, an absolute star. Her voice is beautiful and her charm shines through and lifts the movie to the point that it makes it easier to overlook some of the issues it has. Hopefully we*ll see her in more musicals in the future.
