Outlander Reviews
A movie that always make me come back to it. I liked when was relased and i still like aprox 20 years later. Bloody, violent with vikings and aliens, what more can you ask. Is not a oscar masterpice but fun to watch when you want to be entertained. I dont get the all negativity arround it, maybe James Caviezel is not for everyone these days.
What a load of rubbish. Far fetched nonsense. It's a no from me.
I liked this movie. Great alien type flick. Don’t overthink it , just enjoy it.
good old fashion monster hunter film , you get what you pay for with this one. it's not going to change your life but it is ok with some popcorn
Not sure why this gets such a critical review. I am a huge fan of the 13th Warrior and when I found out this was loosely based on the same theme as Beowulf, it was worth a watch. While there are obvious flaws it paints a lovely blend of Sci-Fi and Viking lore to afford the viewer an imaginative scenario of intrigue and some trepidation. There is enough character development to also engage the senses and emotions. Especially between Caviezel and Myles. All in all an entertaining movie worth a watch and a repeat if you are a fan of Viking mythology. Adding one more thought. This movie was only released to 81 theaters in the US, yet did much better internationally. Pretty sure the timing was way off as it would have done much better with a broader release, along with some better editing no doubt. Too bad, this could have easily reached cult status like the Highlander etc.
The movie was horrible it was so long and drawn out and so predictable. This writer must have an obsession with homosexuality because it was unbelievable how much time and space was dedicated to this in his writing. Overall it was just not at all entertaining or interesting.
I absolutely loved both the concept and execution of this genre mash up on its release and having recently rewatched it I still do. The central and supporting performances are all excellent, there's a great script, very nice special effects, a fantastic musical score and it's all expertly directed. Caviezel in particular gives an excellent layered performance. I strongly disagree with the critics and it seems most reviewers on this one. It's got heart and atmosphere aplenty and is woefully underrated. Hopefully now that it's on a major streaming service it'll be reappraised, become a sleeper hit and garner the appreciative audience that it always deserved.
Ignore the critics. If you love good, quality monster movies, vikings, space sagas or movies about people and what makes them tick you will love this movie. Great performances from a great cast and some amazing special effects and set pieces. It's hard not to feel some sympathy for the monster, which is the key to most great monster movies, and there is a degree of 'who are the real monsters' and it is a close run thing in some ways.
An underrated gem that blends Sci-fi and Fantasy in a medieval Norse setting with vikings, aliens, dragons, and futuristic tech. Musical score is excellent as well.
I wached this movie close to when it first came out and since watched a few more times. Its one of a handful movies I can watch repeatedly and like it. Whats not to like about it? It has Vikings and one of the most wicked monsters out there. Satisfies scifi, action and a little horror. Its a good watch dont let these lame reviews tell you otherwise.

Started out absolutely entertaining and suspenseful, then fell flat on its face into what I call the Walking Dead Fallacy, where writers kill off characters so often you just stop caring anymore.
Hero is stoic & willing to risk everything to hunt down the 'moorwhen'...capable of ripping the head off Scott's/Cameron's ALIEN with ease. Supporting cast great. A better name for the alien monster, and a lower rating than 'R' would have markedly improved box office take.
It did look good. The monster looked amazing. Although it did remind me a lot of the monster out of The Relic (1997). The sound was fine. I can't really remember it that much so it must have been a little bland. There were pacing issues. It was a bit boring with the Viking thing and much pointless talking and Viking fighting. The action was exciting enough. There were some cool scenes but ultimately very forgettable except for the pretty cool monster. Go watch The Relic (1997) instead; it's basically the same thing but much better.
If you cut out the "Vikings being cliche Vikings" and the abundance of drinking references; it was an original mash up that would have done better if it took it's own plot more seriously.
I absolutely love this movie. Its not as high budget as some mainstream alien movies. But for what it is. Its a movie I can rewatch again and again.
What a cool story plot, really enjoy it; engagement scores top marks here. Guess every living thing never have enough resources even intergalactic. Nice name for the Apex with Excalibur myth in the mix.
I think this movie is overhated. It was pretty good, the effects were awesome, some of the characters were fantastic and I liked the Alien that was in it. Ron Pearlman was kinda wasted though so.
I rather enjoyed this mix of sci-fi and Viking lore.
