Claudio C Plunder Road (1957) The Almost Perfect Plan (11,598 – 08 Apr 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In Utah, five thieves driving a truck and a crane truck rob a US$ 10 million-dollar in gold shipment from the US mint transported in a train. Eddie Harris (Gene Raymond) has planned the perfect heist with the thieves Commando Munson (Wayne Morris), Skeets Jonas (Elisha Cook Jr.), Roly Adams (Stafford Repp) and Frankie Chardo (Steven Ritch). They head to a warehouse, where they replace the trucks with three other trucks, and split the gold into three equal parts and arrange to meet each other again in Los Angeles. The drivers of the two first trucks commit mistakes and are murdered or captured by the police. However, Eddie and Frankie succeed to arrive in Los Angeles, where they meet Eddie’s woman Fran Werner (Jeanne Cooper), who has made the necessary arrangements. Eddie and Frank melt down the gold and forge two bumpers and four hubcaps for his Cadillac. Now Eddie, Fran and Frankie drive to the harbor to travel abroad. However, there is an accident in the highway that will affect their fates. “Plunder Road” (1957) is a film noir crime movie directed by Hubert Cornfield with a good story of heist. The plot is tense, and two-thirds of the plan do not work due to human errors. The first driver does not turn off the police radio in his truck, and the second driver drops accidentally his pistol and kills the gas station attendant. However, Eddie, Fran and Frankie fail because of a distracted old woman that hits their car near the police officers. My vote is seven. The sedan kit out seemed a bit far fetched, and it was pretty obvious how that strategy was going to come undone. Not a terrible movie though.
