Problemista Reviews
Creative, beautiful, funny love it
Hilarious and superb acting!
I liked the many messages of hope this film gave my family and I. I took my mom and brothers to see it because I knew it mentioned El Salvador. It is so important we support our talent. We are rooting for our bichito, Julio!
This was the best movie I've seen in months. It was a genre-defying piece created with incredible dexterity. I was laughing throughout, and I'm happy to say that the audience in my showing was just as pleased with the humor as I was. And yet, I also felt such acute fear, distaste, unease, sweetness and hatred, often flying between extremes, in the best possible way that only a film of this caliber could achieve. Tilda Swinton better make room on her mantle for the awards this will surely bring her. And Julio Torres is a new directorial force to be reckoned with if Frida Kahlo and Spike Jonze co-directed a film, it would be this one. I loved it, and I will see it again.
Wonderfully unique movie! It was hilarious and worth watching!
Standard Hollywood fare, this thankfully is not. Brilliant social commentary with hard laughs. Thank you AMC for now showing the types of films I used to have to go to "art house" theaters to view. I will definitely be coming back more often.
Sweet film and endearing characters
I feel like the purpose of the movie was to tell you to succumb to abuse, normalize it, then dish it out to other.
There were aspects of PROBLEMISTA that were entertaining, as well as a couple of laugh out loud moments. The issue is Torres did not know what story he wanted to tell. The story lines for Alejandro, Elizabeth, and Dolores competed with, rather than augment each other. As a result, the stories don't build to a grand finale as they would have in the hands of a more adept filmmaker. The whole is never equal to the sum of its parts. In the end, PROBLEMISTA is an Ikea movie whose parts are assembled to look good from a distance, but up close are rather flimsy.
Stupid and annoying. I walked out early.
Brilliantly told very original story with performances that will keep you laughing. Director really has an eye for filmmaking
Such a good movie so funny truly worth the watch!
It was very unique and well written. Kept you interested with his predicament trying to immigrate to the United States. Very funny and charming.
Creative, funny, heartwarming and uplifting. This movie has a clear vision and aesthetic, the acting was great and love that movies like these are still being made :)
Hilarious and silly! Very fun and unique story.
incredible writing, amazing cast. so funny, and also touching.
So many layers to this movie and the magical surrealism is sublime.
Pretty good movie! Great Job Julio Torres in acting/directing you did a wonderful job. Definitely recommend to watch
Strange comedy, but with an important message about the immigrant work experience. I wish it was funnier, but the climax and ending were heartwarming. I look forward to what Julio Torres does next.
So inspiring and relatable. The most creative movie Ive seen in a while. Lots of laughing out loud.
