Prophet's Prey Reviews
Its sad that people seem to think they need other humans to lead them spiritually. NO ONE NEEDS THAT.
The story needed to be told and Warren Jeffs is a monster. But his followers were so stupid and everyone's motivation was so twisted that I can't help but think this should have been the main topic of this documentary. It felt overly long and all the blame was pointed solely on Warren Jeffs' direction while it is clear everyone there was to blame.
Truly terrifying and horrifying that the monster of perversity and selfishness who is Warren Jeffs gets away with holding 100,00 people in the grip of his brain washing that he cloaks in supposed sanctity. This really proves how gullible and sheeplike people can be.
Wow, what an amazing story. For me no clear demarcation between good vs. evil or right from wrong. Too easy to say William Jeffs is simply a perverted pedophile as he is depicted. The emotional control and power he and his doctrine have over his faithful is incredible as is the fact that so many thousands allow themselves to be dominated and controlled in such a manner. William Jeffs himself is eerily otherworldly. Could go on for hours regarding all the issues involved here. An amazing story.
disturbing to my core. how Warren Jeff was able to manipulate and control many innocent children and believers is beyond my comprehension...especially with modern accessibility to information in everything.
very disturbing to know that a monster like warren jeff still controls 10,000 followers from his prison cell!
It's a good documentary on the FLDS and its brain washing, child molesting lifestyle. Eye opening and thought provoking on how this can still be going on in the United States.
Megalomania, defined by Merriam-Webster as "a delusional mental disorder marked by feelings of personal omnipotence and grandeur," is in the news a lot these days. Whether it's a laughably unqualified presidential candidate, a shirtless dictator or, in the documentary "Prophet's Prey," a monstrous pedophile masquerading as a religious leader. The film is based on the bestselling book subtitled My Seven-Year Investigation into Warren Jeffs and the Fundamentalist Church of Latter-Day Saints. Sticking with it, long after the police have given up, private detective and author Sam Brower lands Jeffs's mug shot on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list. The evidence against Jeffs is damning: from former child-wives, siblings and other disaffected members of the polygamous sect. The killer piece of evidence is Jeffs's own secret journal. Jeffs claims his imprisonment by the forces of evil is just as he prophesied. Jeffs's brother Lyle, his successor, now on the run, is Bower's next target.
Director Amy Berg has turned her watchful eye of justice to one of the most diturbing figures in modern criminology, Warren Jeffs. I knew quite a bit about Jeffs, but this documentary showed mr that there is much more to his story...and it ain't pretty. It is very sad that someone like Jeffs can still have this much control over his people.
