Rumble in the Bronx Reviews
That is the Greatest movie of all time ✨
It's cute to see Jackie Chan doing what he does best so early in his career. His talent for mind-blowing stunts and comic dialogue delivery were his golden tickets to a boisterous career in Hollywood.
"Rumble in the Bronx" offers a barrage of adrenaline-fueled action sequences that keep the audience engaged from start to finish. Jackie Chan's impeccable physicality and daring stunts are undeniable highlights, showcasing his dedication to the craft. However, the plot feels somewhat lackluster and predictable, relying heavily on generic tropes. The characters lack depth, leaving little room for emotional investment. While the film's energy is infectious, it ultimately falls short in delivering a truly memorable story beyond its impressive martial arts spectacle.
It's fun with Jackie's good old stunt and humor but overall, it's an okay movie. It lacks sophistication to make it a great movie. The directing, acting, and music are just not impressive.
The greatest 1.75 hours ever!!!!!!!!!!! Starring Jackie Chan as Keung, a Hong Kong policeman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jackie's third big attempt to break into the American market, unlike his previous attempt with The Protector 10 years prior, Rumble in the Bronx has a director, Supercop's Stanley Tong, that lets Jackie Chan be Jackie Chan and not try to turn him into something he's not. While Rumble in the Bronx isn't one of Jackie's best, it's hard to call it one of his worst and long overdue for a proper release and given the respect it deserves by a company like 88 Films or Eureka Entertainment. Don't sit and watch Rumble in the Bronx dwelling on the acting, plot, dialogue or the fact it's clearly been shot in Vancouver; sit and watch Rumble in the Bronx to see Chan and Tong deliver the full force of Jackie's patented incredible stunt work, impeccable fight choreography and undeniable charm. There's also a certain weight to the brutality of some of the fight scenes and with an awesome industrial musical score by J. Peter Robinson to accompany it. Rumble in the Bronx is a high-energy film that never lets up, especially in the third acts epic hovercraft chase, and finally gave Jackie the big break into America he so justly deserved.
The film that introduced me to Jackie Chan and made me a life long fan.

The acting and dubbing are pretty bad and the storytelling contrived (the plot and characters, the few dramatic and romantic moments), but it's such a joy to watch Jackie Chan perform his inventive, creative, exciting, fun stunts (directed by himself and Stanley Tong) and give it his all (during the end credits we even see footage of him breaking his ankle). It's an engaging and funny film with a lot of great fights and stunts and a few memorable sequences on top (the bottles, the hovercraft).
This is above the top entertainment at its finest! If you can get over obvious voice over issues and just plain ridiculousness of the dialog this is one of the best action films out there. As always Jackie Chan is poetry in motion and i am reminded of how great he is constantly.
One of Jackie Chan's greatest films. As always Jackie delivered with the action and stunts. The story is engaging and fun. You can't go wrong with Jackie Chan cinematic calssic!! Rumble in the Bronx.
Broken windows policing gets too much credit when it was really Jackie Chan who cleaned up NY in the 90s.
Plenty of action. I can see why Jackie became popular with this movie with extreme acrobatics that's Jackie Chan.
Quintessential 90s viewing, Rumble in the Bronx may seem to have an outlandish story line however, Jackie Chan's stunts and charm bring the movie back from the brink and wow the audience. Chan's dedication to the film is seen in the credits blooper reel, where despite injury he continues to film. This also gives you an appreciation for the stunts Chan does.
I love the classic Jackie Chan action movies. This is one of the best ones and if you are a fan of great karate and stunts, then this is a must watch.
There’s one thing that will never get old for me in Jackie Chan movies, and that is seeing how he pulls off such ridiculous stunts, and choreographs some of the most entertaining action sequences. His use of kung fu in film is always unique, and he has a knack for using interesting props in all of the fight scenes. Rumble in the Bronx has the same kind of action, and that is when it lights up and becomes the most enjoyable. I think what makes his films stand out from other movies of the same style is that there’s always a sense of fun, and I like that aspect. However, one of my big complaints about Rumble in the Bronx is that there are a number of fight scenes where the stakes feel too high and the fun doesn’t seem to be there. A gang of thugs terrorizing and trying to kill him kind of spoils any attempt at light-heartedness. Even worse, later in the film we are expected to forgive these same people who attempted to murder him multiple times. It takes a delicate touch to balance both wacky and dark tones, and I’m not sure Rumble in the Bronx quite achieves that. This is a movie where we watch women and a young boy in a wheelchair being threatened at gunpoint and physically assaulted multiple times, then later we watch a man in a sports car jousting with a hovercraft. It certainly has a lot to offer because there are emotional scenes, intense hand-to-hand fights, some slapstick comedy, and even bombastic huge action set pieces. I just didn’t think it worked all that well at blending into a whole film. The villains themselves would even bounce back and forth between acting like hard gangsters and one of the Three Stooges. Likewise, they flubbed the attempts at creating some kind of romance subplot for Jackie Chan. They throw in two different women that both seem to draw his attention, and never quite resolve who is the right one. I certainly didn’t have any active dislike for Rumble in the Bronx, but I do think it’s a lesser film in the Jackie Chan filmography.
This martial arts movie was pretty good. Jackie Chan was a real badass in this movie and he always amazes me with his martial arts skills. The plot to the movie was pretty good and the fight scenes were pretty cool. It's not one of Jackie Chan's best movies, but it's a movie that people would enjoy, especially martial arts fans. I probably would recommend this movie to people.
