Saving Silverman Reviews
Just a really funny movie. I loved it then and today.
Can I give it 0 stars? Can I get back that time I wasted. Stupid and only funny to people with like 5 iq (maybe?). The only thing that would have saved it is seeing the two dudes and the coach getting video gamed at the end.
Classic comedy! Laughter throughout the entire movie!
So stupid it's fascinating, like someone wrote a movie trying to prove "stupid = funny" or something. Yet, I don't hate it. It's actually watchable.
My mum and dad think it's terrible but but I think it was quite good.
This is one of my favorite comedies. Pay no attention to the critical reviews. This movie is objectively hilarious.
This IS a genuinely funny movie. The horrible reviews by critics show that critics have the most pointless, meaningless job on the planet. They have bad taste and try to make others believe their horrible opinions. This move it great.
This movie is tragically under rated! So funny and 90s silly. Watch it if you love silly laughter and Jack Black being awesome!
This movie is hilarious. It doesn't take itself too seriously and takes advantage of it. It will make a Neil Diamond fan out of you.
Incredibly hilarious, balances so many types of comedic approaches. Vibrant and well directed. The chemistry between the cast is tangible and it has a very satisfying ending.
Coming up on the 20th anniversary of this gem. It plays all the time. There are some hilarious must see the great things about it. It's not mean-spirited at all. The finish with Neil Diamond is inspired.
Decent watch at best, probably won't watch again, and can really only recommend for big Steve Zahn fans. This movie is a lot of trash, fun trash, but trash none the less. It makes sense that these actors would band together to do a comedic project, but I can't imagine why they did an "idiot boys club" trope with a "gay as comedy" twist. I'm not a fan of Amanda Peet (but do watch "A Lot Like Love" and "Brockmire", oddly both baseball subjects), but she is the best actor in this by about a factor of 10. She plays a highly intellectual character that just doesn't fit in the same world as these other characters (most likely by design), and even manages to do some action sequences with other people involved without them also doing the action sequences. While I like Jason Biggs, Amanda Detmer, and R. Lee Ermey, I'm not a Steve Zahn fan, and this is not Jack Black's best work. Being as the majority of the movie is the latter and Amanda Peet, there is a lot of "this is kind of annoying" as opposed to "this is kind of funny". The structural writing is actually good, but the premise and the comedic writing is ludicrous, and it is pretty hit or miss. I can't recommend it just because there are too many other options: just the number of abuse humor comedies starring Jason Biggs is enough to give you a list of suggestions for other movies.
I love this movie! Silly, infantile, hilarious! Steve Zahn, Amanda Peet, Jack Black- and Neil Diamond in the background. A classic
The cast is strong but the film is misogynistic and really unfunny.
Saving Silverman is a messy comedy that takes a concept and runs it into the ground. The characters are all quite annoying and never have that connection to help this rise above the material. The cast are all very good but the film never allows them to offer anything. The filmmaker is one of Adam Sandler's mainstays and should illustrate the style of filmmaking on offer. The comedy is forced and often unfunny. The jokes don't connect and the overall storyline is all over the place. This could've of been something of a cult film but sadly it hasn't improved with age. The version I watched was the extended version and I must admit it's better than the first release version I caught on video release. Not a film I would recommend. 30/05/2020
This is one of my favorite underrated comedy movies. The plot is great and will make you laugh. It doesn't hold up that well over time but still is a must watch.
A somewhat funny comedy about a Neil Diamond fanatic (Jason Biggs) who gets whipped by his girlfriend (Amanda Peet). His friends try to save him by kidnapping the girlfriend. I like this better than Bigg's more well known film, American Pie. Here he is kind of likable and this one has a Neil Diamond concert at the end.
