Shadows in the Sun Reviews
Simmons shows she can still get the job done and done well.
Meditative family drama about healing old wounds as the family's matriarch is approaching her sunset. Jean Simmons, terribly feeble-she passed away less than a year after the film's release, gives a gentle but resolute performance. Nice that she could make her final bow above the title of a film that while it's not a masterpiece is a respectable showcase for her great often under-appreciated talent.
Sentimental and possibly slow but a great film to watch on a long summer night. Make no bones about the sentimentality and pace of the film but it is a chill pill and worth a watch.
Moody but way too laid-back, sloppy muddled, fragmented & loosely constructed. Jamie Dornan's shallow acting further puzzles what is his supposed-to-be significant character really about.
