Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com Foster, one of the most remarkable actors in modern film, is brilliant in what might be his most unexpected performance in years. Rated: 4/4 May 9, 2025 Full Review Benjamin Lee Guardian While some of Buxton’s writing can be a little blunt... we’re kept firmly in his grip because, like a car crash itself, we can’t stop staring at how horrifying it is and we’re curious to see how much worse it might get. Rated: 4/5 May 6, 2025 Full Review Kristy Puchko Mashable A smart premise is poignantly brought to life by Foster and Smulders, making for a psychological thriller that is nerve-rattlingly tense and a family drama that is unapologetically gutting. Sep 19, 2024 Full Review Christie Cronan Common Sense Media Subtle and unsettling, this is a cautionary tale of how good intentions can quickly take a wrong turn into a deadly head-on collision with obsession. May 14, 2025 Full Review Jim Laczkowski Director's Club A dark cautionary tale about the dangers of masculine insecurity and the desperate pursuit of significance. Though a bit long, this is a really nice showcase for one of our best character actors: Ben Foster. Rated: 3.5/5 May 10, 2025 Full Review Eric Marchen Rogers 온라인카지노추천 Foster exits the fast lane for an inward-looking portrayal of idle defensiveness that’ll make audiences strongly consider do-not-resuscitate orders. Shep P What a dumb. This movie is pointless. It's not a thriller or a dark comedy at all. It's more of a drama about a marriage breakdown. The husband is creepy and his wife is a b*tch. The son is annoying. The boss is an Ahole. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Akira B Interesting and satisfying in a disturbing way. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/14/25 Full Review Les N Excellent, though slightly depressing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/13/25 Full Review MB C Sharp Corner offers an unsettling dive into obsession and fractured masculinity, blending psychological tension with slow-burn storytelling. Ben Foster delivers a gripping performance, portraying the protagonist's descent into madness with nuanced restraint. While the film's first half is tightly constructed, it loses some momentum with underdeveloped subplots and occasional narrative repetition. The direction and cinematography excel in building an atmosphere of claustrophobia and dread, although the overall tone sometimes wavers between dark comedy and psychological drama. Despite its flaws, Sharp Corner remains a haunting reflection on the illusion of control and the internal scars that external disasters cannot mask. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/25 Full Review Ryan B Promoted as a dark comedy and “gripping thriller,” the film delivered neither. What could’ve been a great premise for the genre turned into yet another reflection of modern societal dysfunction. The story centers on a pathetic but devoted father, railroaded by his manipulative, godawful wife and painted as the villain—all because he has PTSD from witnessing multiple deaths in his front yard. Yet the narrative frames it as his fault, while she’s conveniently positioned as the virtuous one. They completely missed the mark. There was dark comedy gold just waiting to be mined. Instead, we get a half-hearted tragedy. Imagine this: tired of being mistreated, the husband develops a morbid fixation on accidents and death, eventually helping at crash sites—then, staging one for his wife’s return home. The result? He’s finally free to be the good father he always was, and as a bonus, rids the world of a manipulative parasite. Mainstream critics will likely reduce it to male insecurity and toxicity. But in reality, it’s just another depiction of a terrible wife and mother—one who also happens to be a therapist—completely ignoring her husband’s PTSD while labeling him a failure as a father and partner. She cheats on him with the therapist she forces him to see, steals custody of their child, and continues to treat him like garbage. And yet, he stays—a soft, broken man catering to her every whim instead of walking away and exposing who she truly is. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/25 Full Review Zachary Stressful the type of movie that made me yell at my 온라인카지노추천 things like, "Why Josh? Why?"
