A Simple Plan Reviews
Probably Sam Raimi's most overlooked film. A solid story filled with sinister twists complimented by fantastic performances from the cast. An absolute 90's gem
A cold blooded human drama thriller film. Is like Fargo meets Blood Simple in a Sam Raimi's vision and he did really outstanding directing and giving a horror a break and direct something different for the audience and he pull it off. And really great strong performances by Billy Bob Thornton and Bill Paxton (RIP) and is a Christmas and New Years film.
Really good drama thriller showing one lie digging ever deeper holes. Really good 90s stuff. Watched on BBC iPlayer.
Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton deliver awesome performances in this picture. A Simple Plan is a well written story that became an excellent motion picture. I definitely recommend. 92/100
As close to perfect as a film can get. Starts off as a simple plan, but things just spiral down from there, deeper and deeper. And what great casting!
There's really nothing wrong with this movie except Bill Paxton's performance.
All Time Classic. You would never think watching this that Sam Raimi directed this. There is only very subtle queues here and there it's him. It's a shame he didn't do more things like this. This is masterfully edited, phenominally acted, and gorgously shot with really camerawork. The setting is very memorable. The premise is super simple but grows into an incredibly complex Coen Brothers Heist Thriller Noir hybrid. Billy Bob Thorton is amazing in this and is the best thing in it and that's saying a lot. The music is really good also. It's paced very well but it does feel like 2 hours as it moves at a very slow burn pace. However there is always something keeping your interest and it's never boring or too complex to follow. It's a tale about what money and greed can do to normal people. This does require a bit of patience as thrills are sparse in this but the drama, characters, and story more than make up for it. Everyone should give this a try once.
Oscar snubed movie. Deserves best picture and best director nom. But it is still great drama
an underrated sam rami film great acting by billy bob thorton bill baxton and bridget fonda good twist ending intense film.
Came across as cheap, frustrating and tacky. It had a good premise, "what would you do if you found a million dollars?" It was compounded by whom he found it with and that's where it lost me. Saw on Delta.
This is a easy binge watch movie 🍿
Fun watch. It had me wondering what I would do. Still it wasn't gritty like todays crime dramas
Contrived. Not believable.
Fantastic stuff. Watch it!
A Simple Plan - to keep the money for a little while before they kept it forever, then split town and spend the cash. But, while they wait, things start getting complicated. 2 brothers (Paxton, Thorton) struggle to hold all the lies to keep those bags from a crashed plane with drug $.
This is sure reminiscent of Fargo. Funny, yet dark characters depict real unpleasant and disturbing outcome to their life. Brilliant portraits by all the cast and the movie is definitely a 10 STAR.
A slow-burning crime gone wrong caper that will have you squirming till the end.
Oooooh I remember this! Super good look at how money changes people! GREAT movie!
An entertaining thriller that immediately reminds you of both Fargo and Shallow Grave and is based on the century-old concept of good men doing evil deeds because they believe they are justified in their pursuit of happiness. And really, what's a little bit of law breaking when such a sum is on the line? They are not killing anyone, aren't they? All four central characters go through their own little transformations. People who are content with their humble way of life are transformed into distrustful cutthroats who don't care about the consequences of their actions as long as it protects their share of the bag. The ensemble of actors is delightful. Everyone embodies their characters and gives incredible performances. Especially Billy Bob Thornton, who once again succeeds in playing a seemingly half-witted character with enormous depth. Danny Elfman's suspenseful score is excellent too. My one main grievance with the script is that it seems a bit rushed in terms of spiralling. There seems to be something missing between them recovering the money and slaying the farmer the very next day. Sure, they are motivated by an urge to cover it up and sunk cost fallacy and all, but it is still quite a leap.
Flawless storytelling and stellar casting.
