A descent and suspenseful movie that takes place in one afternoon. I was really impressed by the acting and the pace of the movie. A good watch.

Stylistically phenomenal. It is shot in a handheld manner, similarly to Silent House starring Lizzie Olsen. I really liked the personal aspect of following the footsteps of these characters, as if I was a part of the night. If you've seen the movie, what I just said sounds horrible, but I thought it was intriguing yet also disgusting. The characters are all deplorable, and there is not really a conclusive ending, but I don't mind it. It's a captured series of events, and the director chose to end the movie once those events are over. It was a challenging movie. It had a strong indie vibe to it, and I couldn't help but appreciate the artistry behind the film. I do sort of wish to have seen some consequences, but I also liked thinking about it afterwards, and making conclusions by myself. Thank you.

The irony in the title, 'cause this is anything but. Took me by complete suprise. I had to take a pause before I could watch further. And to think this is a debut film. Just wow. Gut punch.

Wow the audience meter sure is wrong in this one. I tend not to delve into Audience ratings that much. Worth a watch but definitely only once. The acting was scarily good, and "one shot" filming complements the insanity of it all.

scariest pie since cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2. on a serious note, this movie gradates from surprising to uncomfortable, from unsettling to downright brutal. if you’re going to watch this i’d recommend going in blind, with the exception of knowing that this film is not an easy watch in the slightest. biggest surprise of 2022 for me. a harrowing movie that i never want to watch again.

The greatest proof of the accuracy and pertinence of this film's script and themes is the review bombing it's getting. Make no mistake: people are leaving such low ratings because the movie hit the bullseye. Not only the script makes a perfect portrayal of certain "movements" that are happening in the USA (not NOT ONLY there!), but also shows how these movements are profoundly weak, chaotic and incompetent. This is a dangerous movie. Artistically, the triumphs abound. Instead of playing along with all the usual and boring tropes, cliches and conventions of thriller/horror movies (as Get Out did, for example), Soft & Quiet follows its narrative organically, employing the "real time" technique in a way that's not gimmicky, and all the narrative and thematic elements mesh together very naturally. It's not a "scary movie" artificially inflating its own weight with "social commentary", but a story that's driven entirely by the themes it presents. It's not a subtle movie, but I don't see this as a flaw. Some parts look heavy-handed and on the nose because, truthfully, that's the world we're living in.

After sitting through this “movie”…the only redeeming takeaway is knowing the main chick is still infertile at the end of the film.

Might be the absolute worst movie I have ever seen. So much so that it motivated me to finally make an account on this website and post my review... I have watched a ton of awful movies too but this one just hit different. It takes the cake for worse movie I have ever seen. Complete and utter garbage.

This was one of the worst pieces of hot garbage I have ever seen. Ugly and gross and pointless. The fact that this got 85% critics score tells me I can never trust critics again. I am giving it a half a star because apparently I cannot give it zero.

This could possibly be the worst movie I have ever scene. Camera work was awful,felt the full movie there was going to be a massive twist and just never happened.

Filled with moments that are boring and others that make no sense, this is a clumsy film that is as poorly acted as it is written. Lazy, yet tense, the ending is so obvious it is laughable. I am more interested in what happens next, way more than anything I just watched. An unresolved finish? Seriously? Yet, the viewer can see it coming a mile away. Characters who have no redeemable qualities, crush the commentary the film is tying to convey. Final Score: 1.7/10

Bad, and not just for the cringy, outlandish content and plot. Couldn’t finish it. I think I understand the “message” but it’s wildly unnecessary.

This is a disturbing and truly ugly film. The acting is very good, but the story and characters are truly ugly to the bone!

Probably one of the worst movies I've watched in all my years of living. And then the fucking ending? Really? My 12 year old could write a better horror/thriller movie. Can't believe I wasted my time on this piece of garbage.

Given the combustible nature of this film's themes and presentation, I can certainly empathize with those who expressed a negative reaction to it. It's a tough watch to be sure. That said, the first half of the film does a particularly good job of illustrating each character's personality and motivations (to a disturbing degree). The second half however, almost feels as if it exists to be a counterpoint to the first half and the statements of our main character, Emily. Without too many spoilers, the title of the film is in reference to something Emily says at one point, which essentially can be summed up by saying that truly, the women of the alt-right-hate-machine are actually its strongest weapon in that their method of perpetuating the systems of oppression against minorities is, by contrast to their male counterparts, far more subtle - or "soft and quiet". It is for this reason, I believe, that the second half of the film presents itself as it does. Whether or not it does it well, however, appears to be up to the viewer to decide given the widely varying reactions to this film. In finality, I feel it necessary to address the question poised in many of the other reviews about who this film is actually for. Unfortunately, I must also admit here that as unsavory as many of the statements made by the main set of characters are, they resonated with my own experience of living and working alongside white people all of my life. As a white person, I even recognized some of my own unconscious biases, to my extreme discomfort. It is for this reason that I believe that this film does not exist to remind IPOC of what they already understand only too well but rather, perhaps to rip off the glossy veil from what many white people consider to be "benign racism". While exaggerated for entertainment purposes, the ultimate result of this kind of hidden ugliness is hardly beyond imagination. Watch if you dare.

It was awful in a good way. Gave me goosebumps, as they say don't be scared of ghost and monsters as it's humans who you should be afraid of. Deeply unsettling and shows how quickly things can go terribly wrong if sh.theads blinded by hate are in action.
