Months after escaping a brutal kidnapping, Meg travels with her husband, Scott, to his family's isolated compound in Cape Cod, hoping the early winter quiet will give her space to recover and for them to reconnect. Shortly after they arrive, however, the couple discovers they are not alone on the property. Scott's charming but overbearing cousin, Madelin, is staying next door. To Meg's surprise, the two are quite close and soon Madelin's presence is inescapable. With each passing day Meg and Scott's already fragile relationship begins to fracture, while Meg is haunted by vivid nightmares, visions of an old woman lurking in the woods, and a growing suspicion that Scott and Madelin are hiding something from her. As the tension in the house grows, Meg begins to act out in increasingly reckless ways, setting into motion a series of disturbing events that shatters the thin barrier of civility between her and the cousins. Subtle manipulation gives way to violent confrontation as Scott and Madelin reveal their troubling history and Meg learns the truth about her abduction.

Alexandra Heller-Nicholas AWFJ.org This movie offers an extraordinary sense of indefinable visceral dread and a deeply satisfying mystery, all framed through the lens of Lloyd’s radical rethinking of the final girl. Jun 23, 2023 Full Review Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting For those that don’t mind wading into the darker recesses of a fractured mind, Somewhere Quiet offers a melancholic, intimate, and moody seaside epilogue of a Final Girl’s story. Tom L That fact that this film currently has an audience rating of 27% sadly confirms that most audiences are pretty much boneheaded. I don’t always agree with the critics’ scores but usually if a film has high critical ratings and a low audience score, that means I’ll like it. This movie was no exception. A slow burn that I guess is too much to handle for most TikTok addled brains, with masterful storytelling, acting, direction, and music. The theme of a non-white spouse rubbing up against generations of colonialism and bigotry ramps up the tension, and the plot gradually becomes apparent to anyone paying attention. Any fan of Robert Aikman’s “strange stories” will find much to enjoy here. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/14/25 Full Review Joseph K One of the worst movies I've ever seen.. absolute waste of time. Save yourself the trouble.. and flip through Netflix for an hour and half and you'll have better spent your time than watching this slow train wreck. To top it off.. even the writers admit to it being hot garbage, but just abruptly ending it for no apparent reason in the middle of a scene with no resolution, thought or closure. 0/5 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/08/25 Full Review Teeny Tina Terrible movie. I get that the filmmakers wanted an unreliable narrator but it didn’t work here. The movie was too slow, not scary enough (I would not label it horror), and too many things made no sense (the broken plate, the old lady in the woods) and never got explained. Sometimes too much exposition ruins a movie and this one proves the flip side is also true. If you just drag your audience along for 100 minutes and never explain most of what they watched, you’re going to lose them and piss them off. Definitely skip this one. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review The H I like movies like this, where you're not really sure what is going on until the very end, I kept trying to guess what it all means & if she was in danger or not, thought provoking indeed. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/17/25 Full Review Hannah F This movie was so slow and terribl. Wish I could get my hour and a half back. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review Daniel M Like most modern horror films, I often find after sitting through 40 odd minutes of absolutely nothing happening, asking myself, just when,oh when, does the horror start? This was no exception. So do yourself a favor and listen to all the other reviews on here. Avoid this cack. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/01/25 Full Review Read all reviews
