Spielberg Reviews
Because of Daniel Day-Lewis. :)
Having grown up inspired by and in awe of his films, it wasn't until this documentary I realized the underlying themes of family breakups and unifications that runs through most of them.
This is a fantastic documentary about the filmmaker with a star studded cast of talking heads including the director himself, carefully reviewing his impressive career. At times it feels mythmaking, like the story about how Spielberg couldn’t get into USC but did take a tour of Universal Studios, hiding in the bathroom until the tour moved on, in order to get his start in Hollywood, but for the most part it’s an excellent review and explication of the many films of Spielberg, with an attentiveness to his career trajectory, the themes of his films, the effect of his personal life on his filmmaking, and his family. Spielberg made himself available for seemingly innumerable interviews and discussed everything from the overarching themes of his career to some of the specific filmmaking techniques he has used over the years and why he used them. If you like Spielberg or have gone to the movies anytime over the past 50 years there will be something new you will learn from this fascinating documentary.
This showbiz documentary was very good. The entire crew did a spectacular job on this documentary on the legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. It goes into specific detail on his life and what inspired him to create all of the classic films he made throughout his career. He's a true visionary and there will be no one like him. If you haven't seen this documentary, check it out sometime. It's a definite must see.
After watching The Fablemans, I was intrigued to learn more about Steven Spielberg's childhood and early life. Luckily HBO created a wonderful documentary about him that featured everything I'd hoped to know and more. If you're a fan of the legendary director behind some of Hollywood's best blockbusters, Spielberg is definitely worth watching.
Seeing Spielberg and his rise to glory was a humble tale about a boy who loved messing around with a camera, only to turn into one of the biggest and successful icons in film history. I loved the fact that Steven, George, Martin ...etc were considered outcasts and the rat pack of Hollywood. Now being iconic for they're films and praised. But as well, we learn that Steven went through struggles like all human beings. Some talk about it or find a hobby to cover it up, while Steven used films to express his experiences that he had gone through in life. Now that is someone with a story. If you love Spielberg and his work, this documentary is great and a must watch for fans of his work.
An in-depth look at Steven Spielberg‘s career
"I'd love this Boi film about My Hollywood Hero, he and his movies had been there for me, knowing that He's never into Bad Drugs back then and today, and I would loved to work for him on other films I'n interested in for his sake"
great documentary, hes made some of my favorite movies,JAWS,DUEL,RAIDERS,SCHINDLERS LIST,it was great hearing from scorsece,DePALMA,Hanks,CRUISE,FORD
This is more hagiography than documentary, but I don't care. Spielberg the man, and this film, deserve the adulation.
"Spielberg" is a love letter to the director with many celebrity cameos and friends who gush over the creative genius and his industry changing methods while moving chronologically through his career and giving unique behind-the-scenes looks into his blockbuster hits while completely ignoring the duds among the lot.
For film buffs like myself this HBO doc was a real treat and really an ode to one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Most fascinating to hear the director give his personal insights and challenges for each of his movies over the decades. Plus, some most interesting behind-the-scenes tidbits from fellow artists, collaborators, and movie critics enhanced the movie. The praise heaped upon Spielberg can get a little overdone and I would have liked to hear his views on some of the great actors he worked with over the years. However, for me, seeing all these amazing film clips and getting the related insights was rather fascinating and overcame any flaws of the doc.
A really interesting documentary / love fest dedicated to one of the greatest to ever do it.
Spielberg is directed by Susan Lacy, and it stars Steven Spielberg in a documentary about the life of Steven Spielberg in how he started his film debut, how he comes up with his films, and how he managed to become one of the most successful directors of all time. When I was going to the guide of Direc온라인카지노추천, I recently come across this, and didn't even know about this at all. So when I record this and watched it, I thought Spielberg is a very touching tribute to the director that shows the achievements of what he has done. It shows the production of a lot of the films that Spielberg managed to create, and they are really interesting to watch and you end up having more knowledge of the films that you know and have a bit of a different opinion of what you see in the films that he has made. The interviewers are interesting to watch, and seeing Steven Spielberg go into such detail of his passion of films is really something to see. The pacing is tight that never felt too long or too short that you want to see more of, and the beginning of the film where it shows a lot of Steven Spielberg's films was really cool and it shows how far he has gone from his career. Spielberg is a fascinating documentary that I might try to review all of his films that he directed.
An amazing look into this amazing directors life. Interesting to see his struggles, and how they play into the themes of his movies. I was particularly touched, as I am also a child of divorce, and I remember watching E.T. as a kid, and being scared and confused by the way Elliot acted with his family, but those are all the same struggles I have and still have. Tough to talk about, but also good to hear. Nice to see his successes as well, and how he's still fighting the good fight in the Hollywood system, and making the movies he wants to make. Watched on Shaw on demand at home, December 18, 2017.
