Failed baseball player Billy Wyatt (Mark Harmon) learns that his childhood sweetheart, Katie (Jodie Foster), has killed herself. The exuberant but troubled Katie, with her love and friendship, profoundly influenced Billy's life. She indicated that she wanted him to handle her ashes, and so he embarks on a train ride to the seaside town where he grew up. Nostalgia and grief overcome him as he loses himself in reminiscences about the joys and pains of his adolescence.

One of the most underrated movies of all time, this is Jodie Foster at one of her best performances, matched by a great cast in a movie that is touching, beautiful, inspiring and heartwarming. David Foster's beautiful music score should have been considered for Oscar consideration, and Grandma consideration, and the main song and when she danced performed by him and Marilyn Martin should have been a top 10 hit and also a worthy contender for Oscar and Grammy consideration. A magical movie that is the definition of what a feel-good movie should be, which is balanced by tragedy and sadness and hope and redemption. A truly underseen and underrated movie that deserved much better.
