I don't know. Tatum is HoTT

The choreography is amazing! The chemistry between Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum is great.

I loved this movie as a kid, due for a rewatch soon.

It's a watered down Dirty Dancing minus staying at a resort. It's ok. Nothing particulary good and nothing particulary bad. The chemistry is passable enough, the direction is basic, and the story BARELY works. It feels like stuff just happens but it kind of works just enough where it holds together. The side drama with Mario and all feels completely pointless. It never really is able to tie the personal drama with the dancing/romance that well. The dance numbers themselves aren't that memorable and there suprisingly isn't a lot here of it. The end number is just ok too and isn't that memorable and none of the dances really tie into the characters emotions or arcs. The music is very forgettable also. Even the rap tracks. Tatum is very wooden and stilted in this the entire time also. That's about it honestly. Skip It and watch Diry Dancing instead.

"It's the usual case of great dancing, bad acting and even worse dialogue in this very guilty pleasure for fans of the genre." - Anna Smith, Empire Magazine. They have it so very right, yet rated it so very wrong! This, its sequel (let's ignore the other follow-ups for the time being), and 'Honey' have been - and remain, firm favourites since their respective releases. This presents performance arts in an accessible way, and delivers entertainment whilst doing so. Ultimately it makes me feel good when I watch it

Look i get it this movie doesnt have a great plot or dialogue and its very cliché. But thats not how you must rate these kind of movies i think. Its a dance movie which is upbeat, fun and hopefull for teens and adolescents. I loved this movie when i was younger, now i think its cheesy but my teen daughter loves it. Beautiful people who can dance, fun music and a hopeful story that you can make your dreams come true no matter what. So im gonna rate this movie for the people who meant to watch these kind of movies teens and adolescents who want an upbeat dance movie.

The best Step-up movie because it's the most relatable and realistic of them all. Even though the second one is most often mentioned when searching for best Dance movies, that one is MUCH less realistic and relatable. The second one didn't get people (guys) unto dancing despite the stigma it's something for girls BUT THE FIRST DID.

The final dance in this movie is insanely good. Honestly, when I think about "Step Up", that is the moment that makes me want to rewatch. The music, the dancing, everything in that final number is chill-inducing. The rest of the movie is fine. The acting is stiff (especially from Channing) and the dialogue is melodramatic. The chemistry between the characters, especially the two leads is strong, and the emotional moment near the finale packs a punch. Note: That is the biggest glass of Orange Juice that I've ever seen. Best Character: Miles Best Quote: The line by Director Gordon introducing Tyler to the talent scout. Best Scene: The Final Number

É um filme maravilhoso, apenas fica atrás do 3°filme na saga, atores muito bem escolhidos, e o filme trás sempre uma vibe incrível 🔥

Great choreography and decent acting

It meanders a bit and the plot is nothing special, but it was alright.

Yes, please. Excellent dance/romance/wrong-side-of-the-tracks-film. Channing Tatum dances in a lot of his movies, but he should do it far more.

Look it's fairly predictable but it's a good romp and there are great dance scenes and it's good clean fun.

It was a pretty good movie. I watched it when I was alot younger but I remember really enjoying it!

Story/Screenplay: (2.5/5) Another lady and the tramp type story. This one uses dance as the medium for romance between the two leads, which is far from original. Not very interesting. Duration/Tempo: (2.5/5) At 1 hour and 44 minutes, it felt about the same, but I would have liked to see it trimmed down by 15 minutes. It was a tad repetitive at times. Cast & Crew: (3.5/5) Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan had chemistry and they're very likable. Rachel Griffiths stood out as the Director of the Arts school. Summary: (2.5/5) Not enough meaningful content to justify the movie's length, and the appeal of dance and music performances declined as the movie progressed. Tatum and Dewan were the biggest positives, but not enough for a thumbs up.

Much better that I initially thought it was going to be with a pleasant performance from Channing Tatum

An interesting film series. They definitely get worse as they go from 1-5, but none of them are awful - the dance elements certainly help them.

Full of conventional teen romance tropes and cliches with a plot that's just excuse for people to break out dancing, Step Up still has good performances from its two leads + solid romantic chemistry between them and the actual dance choregraphy is fun and full of energy.

Actually just seen Step Up for the first. Changing Tatum is great in this movie and Jenna Dewan is spectacular. Great dancing and great music. Loved how they mixed gritty street life with artsy trained dancing. I'm surprised to see only a 19% RT rating. The critics are wrong, what was they thinking.
