When a tour bus carrying senior women breaks down in rural Quebec, Michelle (Michelle Sweeney) the driver goes out to check the engine and injures her ankle in the process, leaving her -- and the bus -- to be cared for by the elderly passengers. Luckily, among them, there are a lot of practical skills to go around. Catherine (Catherine Roche) is a nun with a working knowledge of mechanics, while Alice (Alice Diabo) is a Native American able to construct traps to catch food.

A Good Movie To Watch

The Company of Strangers grants these women the kind of serious consideration and space that they’re denied in so many public spaces, but it never feels like a strained exercise in redressing that imbalance.

A brilliant sparkling of life. A nun, a lesbian, an indigenous woman, a black woman, a sprite, on and on. This reveals the frailties we all face. I'm a gay man and I loved it. The quiet natural surroundings do it more than justice. It is the beating heart. I've read some of the one star reviews and oh how they've missed the stillness of being. If you're not in the mood to be absorbed by thoughtful joy, then move on. Watch it and rejoice. It is effortless art. If you're young and raging, this may not be for you. Dane

What on earth are a bunch of seniors doing driving on a FIELD? I live in a rural area and the premise of this is ridiculous. That's a freaking field in the middle of nowhere.

A bus breakdown in an isolated spot sets in motion the need for old friends and acquaintances to move beyond how they see each other and themselves, uncover their inner strengths and pool their ideas to move on. Insightful, joyous movie about the power of ordinary people who find their minds opening to possibilities never considered. Quietly inspiring and memorable.
