Streets of Fire Reviews
Though a failure at the box-office when released, it has aged well and doesn't look that bad when viewed today.

Walter Hill directs the hell out of this and there are more people in the cast who understand the assignment than do not. But boy do the ones who blow it, along with some second-tier songs from Jim Steinman, render this one of Hill's weaker efforts.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jun 24, 2024
Not only is it the greatest opening sequence of Hill’s career, it’s the greatest opening in film history, period.
| Original Score: 9.5/10 | Sep 29, 2023
Streets of Fire is the most innovative, ground-breaking film to be seen this year outside of the Coppola stable.

The fact that the dialogue is deliberately over-the-top doesn't make it any easier to digest. On the other hand, the visuals are pretty groovy.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Dec 28, 2021
Through the most unlikely of circumstances, Streets of Fire has continued to endure as a cult classic; a retro-contemporary noir-musical filled with memorable visuals and catchy rock ballads.

'...the real star is the retro production design and the film's deliberately dated M온라인카지노추천 look...

An extravagantly stylized pulp burlesque that is at once an objectively lousy picture and just about the coolest damn thing I've ever seen.

A grandiloquent compatriot to their later masterpiece, Geronimo... More exuberantly stylized than The Warriors, it seemingly stands in stark relief to the carborundum asperity of movies like Hard Times and The Driver...
| Original Score: 8/10 | Nov 15, 2017
It is stellar action cinema that thinks outside the box and it's worth watching again and again.

A carefully stylised movie that's something like pure cinema.

Where have you gone, Michael Pare'? I really enjoyed this.

A typically interesting effort from the vastly underrated Walter Hill that's improved with age.

The movie is right on the rock & roll, but the alternative time and place are mysteriously convincing -- especially if, like me, you believe the most beautiful post-war American cars were Studebakers.

All sound and fury signify nothing.
