Stress Positions Reviews

Feb 19, 2025

Movie during lockdown covid times, neat ! This is one of those movies just about life & how different people live, but it wasn't boring or dull, the dialogue & characters were funny & I was laughing throughout even though I didn't necessary like any of them. It did a good job showcasing why the pandemic took so much longer in the US vs other countries because nobody was following the distance rule or masks seriously here like they should've been.

Stress Positions is a 2024 American comedy drama film directed by Theda Hammel (in her feature directorial debut) 🍿 Can’t recommend it. Oof, this isn’t good 🙁 Probably give it a miss 👎🏼 S Terry Goon is keeping strict quarantine in his ex-husband’s Brooklyn brownstone while caring for his nephew — a 19-year-old model from Morocco named Bahlul — bedridden in a full leg cast after an electric scooter accident. Unfortunately for Terry, everyone in his life wants to meet the model.

Ridiculous. I hated it.

This was the worst movie I have ever seen. I found it to be simultaneously boring, disturbing, meaningless with pathetic acting. I honestly almost walked out several times but then began to delight in just how awful it was.

Hilarious, fast paced- such a good movie. FINALLY a movie with some character development and dialogue! This is a smart love story - very well acted and totally engrossing! :)

The issue isn't that most of the characters are unpleasant, its that a few pointed ones are offered grace and understanding which doesn't really fit with the movie's overall vibe. That's a shame because there are hints of this being a really savage comedy but when you pull punches that just doesn't work.

I was genuinely uncomfortable with these characters at times, so when the humor lands, and lands hard, it provides a manic release. There are shades of brilliance in this film, and I can’t think of any movie or television show that this is similar to. That is a wonderful thing.

Love that it's a very modern 'period piece' on life during COVID that is about something other than the virus
