chagall56 I loved this movie. AT my age, just the thought of a 20 year old gorgeous girl falling for a 60 year old guy and pressuring HIM to get married is unreal, but nice to dream about. Ezio the basso baritone sings some great torch songs and some opera arias that I love, such as Everything I have is yours by Burton Lane. Great comedy, but mainly for the older crowd who appreciates this kind of nostalgic fluff! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Meh romantic comedy that's a remake of an earlier film that was a remake of a Preston Sturges Broadway play. Opera singer Ezio Pinza is photographed kissing a first time Broadway performer, Janet Leigh, who's also his biggest fan. To avoid scandal, the two agree to a sham marriage, with Leigh agreeing to it in hopes that the relationship becomes real. The plot is one that's ripe for comedy and it's one that I think could easily be updated with modern paparazzi, celebrity culture and obsessive fan culture. Unfortunately, this film fails to spawn many laughs despite the solid premiss and Pinza is a rather dull romantic lead. However, Janet Leigh is quite winning as the young impressionable fan who "marries" her idol.
