A lot of fun with some great, OTT performances and a couple of neat twists

I would call it a horror comedy - the super host is hilarious.

It was predictable and has repetitive formula but somehow surpass the expectation for a well-acted thriller.

Really enjoyed the first half but it fell off a cliff in the final act. Everything that worked in the first half (the leads' naivety and Rebecca's weirdness) became cringe and annoying in the final act. There was a certain shot in the opening act (one of the creepiest images in the movie) that never had an actual real-world explanation by the end and felt like a red herring. SPOILER: and in the end, everything you're invested in is just thrown away so Rebecca can "win" and over-indulge her batshit craziness. I have no problem with movies that want to go for a dark ending, but I feel like that has to be set up better. It just seemed so First Year Film School to end it with "ohhhh, the bad guy won and your protagonists are dead mwhahahahaha!" That said, there is still a lot of good work here. And Gracie Gillam's performance is very good. It just needed to be reigned in at the end, I think .. that's on the director, not her. Overall, had potential but ultimately fell apart in the end.

Dont start it, for cringe you will want to finish it, dont waste your time

I liked the premise, as played as it is, but there's so much about this movie, especially the second half, that just makes no sense at all, and I found it incredibly frustrating.

rebecca honestly makes this movie. such an iconic character that will do anything to get what she wants, which i can't fault her for.

Blatantly rips off beats from Creep, a much much better film in every regard.

The main protags are extremely milktoast and I caught myself rooting for Rebecca the entire time just to move the plot along and entertain me and THAT Gracie seriously delivers and carries this movie on her back. I only give this extra star for her performance since she looked like she was having fun with the role but nobody else had any depth to the characters. The hardest part I had with this movie was understanding how 3 grown adults can fear a 120lb cute girl with a knife as much as you would Leatherface.

The plot was a bit thin. I felt the leads did not have chemistry - they are meant to be a couple but did not seem very compatible. The villain was hilarious and very well-acted, especially when she revealed herself to be a psychopath. Sort of a ditzy psychopath which was fresh; for example I liked how she gets out the car towards the end all fed-up with trying to chase the protagonists and can't get the hand break up so just leaves it and the car is bouncing while she walks to the house. She needed more of a story as was mainly cooky smiling and waving for the first 3 quarters of the film.

Terrible waste of time.

This movie is TERRIBLE how is it getting good reviews?! Stupid, unsympathetic characters and a villain that is not scary she's just REALLY freaking annoying and could have been taken out easily. Garbage from start to finish. The only redeeming things about this movie are that Osric Chau is in it and the house and scenery are nice to look at. That's literally it.

This movie was not scary at all. It could probably be in comedy. Please can someone tell me why the crazy chicks eye's glow?!?! So this movie is about a squatter gone crazy murder and a young couple getting killed by her for no reason at all but thay they're just hanging out with her waiting to die.

Superhost manages to eke out some minor thrills and great kills from its uninspired premise.

kind of a slow burner, but Gracie Gillam's performance as Rebecca is AMAZING. she's a perfect mix of funny and unhinged. Honestly wish there was more of her and less of the couple. I'm not sure if it was meant to be funny, but she made me laugh. Claire was kind of annoying and rude, not sure why teddy's so invested in her. I definitely liked it more than I thought I would but that's at least 90% because of Gracie's acting. hoping to see her in more projects!!

Overall, Superhost has been filled with some outstanding performances thanks to actresses Gracie Gilliam and Barbra Crampton. The plot is engaging and mysterious, but what held this film back was seeing the leads be ultimately unlikeable right from the start. Horror fans will still find plenty to enjoy here, thanks to the film's twist, and moments of surprising violence and unexpected gore.

"Superhost" takes the world of online Airbnb review bloggers and You Tubers into the dark world of psychological horror. Two well known bloggers who host the show "Superhost" have found dwindling likes and diminishing subscriber count due to unsensational content. Renting a remote home from Rebecca ( Gracie Gilliam ) they hope to fix their channel by having the host interact and be filmed showing her home to the audience. Wanting good reviews Rebecca is willing to go the extra mile and is happy to help. However Rebecca is much more than she initially seems and before long a cat and mouse nightmare begins..  Fun , thriller horror that is mostly predictable but definitely fresh

What an excellent little horror thriller. they pulled it off really good with tons of bloody surprises to boot despite the low budget/production value. A great fun time.

started with a decent premise albeit derivative as all get out, but the two protagonists really drop the ball as soon as the movie starts to get serious. they do just fine for the first half of the film and then it's like im staring at a blank canvas when they should be afraid or angry or something. i cant count how many times i hit ffw for the second half, basically the entire thing. also, for a movie with protagonists this stupid, and especially by shudder, i would expect them to at least pepper in some jokes, but there was no comedy aspect whatsoever. there was just too much missing from too many aspects of this film, and to have the antagonist cause so many problems with so few tools at her disposal is just not realistic in any way. it also felt that they left out as many roles as possible so the cast could be only 4 people, and it makes the thing feel empty. it's not scary, it's not funny, it's not ominous, it's not interesting, it's not original, and it's not much of anything but a big timewaster with no payout at the end. im gonna say this is just hands down not worth watching, although there was some earnest effort made. i don't necessarily even agree with the other reviews that the antagonist was so amazing, they seem planted. she was fine, but the movie just beats a dead horse and we all knew what the twist was from the moment they pulled into the driveway. she could do fine in future content, but this is just not a standout role and not a standout script no matter how much energy she puts into it.
