Don't sleep on this incredible movie, a real and devastating invitation into understanding empire.

A remote control and a really switched on friend will be your biggest assets when watching this film, so you can keep pausing to ask, ‘Sorry, who is that guy again, and what did he just say? And what country are we in now?’ There’s a good film in there somewhere which will challenge your beliefs about the good guys and the bad guys—what a shame it got lost in its own cleverness.

I enjoyed the film, but I found it a little hard to follow in places. Traffic was a better film.

Dizzying, which is some of the point. But there's still a difference between being effective and just plain ol' losing your audience in the maze of your own self-importance. A good performance from Clooney, but Oscar-winning???? .....Hmm. Methinks, they just wanted to honor him somehow for stepping up his game in the industry with all his directing and producing.

An intellectual, though provoking film that revoles around three interwoven stories on the murky waters of geo-politics.

Complex and well acted - an enjoyable and educational 2 hours of entertainment

It's alright but really not all that much happens. Plot is not nearly as great as it thinks it is.

The film is certainly not for everyone and while I thought it contained good performances and a intellectual script it also lost my attention several times and was more talk than anything else and while that isn't always a bad thing, I think I was just let down by what it could have been. "Syriana" is all about the greed created by oil and the men who control it and it showcases the global problem between countries and the powerful commodity that oil represents to this world. This is one of the films that while not much happens and is rather slow, you do think about certain elements contained within it after the film credits have rolled.

Thriller politico che riesce a farsi apprezzare per l'alta qualità e complessità della trama, senza spiccare particolarmente per originalità. Le storie dei personaggi principali sono elaborate con cura, con perizia di dettagli e sono correttamente intrecciate tra di loro, senza esagerare, fino all'arrivo del finale ad effetto in cui il giusto livello di tensione "esplode". George Clooney spicca per la sua interpretazione, perfettamente centrata col personaggio che interpreta; a tratti dismesso e smarrito, a tratti duro ed inflessibile. Seppure in un contesto dove è difficile trovare argomenti nuovi, "Syriana" riesce a restare, almeno parzialmente, nel segno.

This movie is just further reminder of the corruption of America labeling terrorists just for not being on our side . It definitely wasn’t the most thrilling and there was a lot going on but the acting was solid and it got interest during the second half 3.1

A complicated mess with zero emotional attachment. That scene at the end with Matt Damon coming home is as false & manipulative scene as I've ever seen. People will probably congratulate themselves for liking it as an intellectual challenge. It wasn't an intellectual challenge. It was a mess. A flat mess. They tried. I'll give them that. The money was up on the screen. There have been some good/great movies about the Middle East. This wasn't one of them.

The story was ok but George Clooney transcended the script and made it interesting.

Ambitious and a more stylized but far less complicated than Traffic. Syriana features fine performances from Matt Damon, Jeffrey Wright, Chris Cooper, and George Clooney but ultimately doesn't make much of a statement with all the time it has.

Intriguing, great performances, a must watch!

The side plot involving Matt Damon wasn't necessary, but otherwise a strong geopolitical thriller.

This movie sucks a lot. I bought it for $2 at a public library sale.

A movie about the impact of the oil industry and petroleum politics on the Middle East, but also on world politics. Syriana is a term used by Washington think-tanks to describe a hypothetical re-shaping of the Middle East. The structure of the film is complex and dynamic, with several parallel storylines developing simultaneously and intersecting in various ways. It is well shown how the system works, especially certain of its aspects. The difference between publicly proclaimed values and what is actually carried out in practice. The difference between the lower and upper echelons of the corporate and government hierarchies, not only in terms of how well-informed each level is, but also the absence of any system or belief that is not directly related to money. Corruption is OK if it is in the national interest, between democracy and profit they will naturally choose profit, and loyalty or human life are just empty words that mean nothing. This is quite an informative, balanced, well-conceived film based on documentary material, although at the end there is a disclaimer that "all of the characters and events portrayed in it (except for incidental archival footage), are fictional".

U-NEXT, 2019/2 It`s complicated. Many people appear. I don`t think that it`ll be fun because I understood it.
