Tallulah Reviews
Simplona, plana, lineal pero entretenida. Propone poquito, entrega poquito pero aun asi me gusto.
A very odd, very complicated film. It struggles a bit to wrap up all its ideas and thoughts together. The film can be messy and disjointed. But at the same time, I don't feel like that was a concern. Maybe the disjointed nature serves the unclean, unfixed characters. Unfortunately, however, because the show is so disjointed, it comes off as a bit muddled and confused. It has these real core ideas that it wants to express, but it's as if it gets confused along the way on how to express them. It focuses on this idea of being all alone, and struggling, while eventually finding family; it also has these philosophical ideas such as gravity and people's place in the world; it also has these ideas of femininity and motherhood, and how it's not as clean and clear-cut as many people play it off to be. Yet, because the film tries to express all things things at once, it never felt like any of them landed. This is compounded by the nature of storytelling itself, where there has to be a beginning, middle, and end. It's the end where everything struggles to wrap up. Just like a baby's room, with their toys scattered everywhere, it was a lot of fun for them in the moment, but now you're left with the mess to clean up as the parent, and the parents of this film just didn't really know where everything belonged. Is that a bad thing? No, I think the film is quite good. And it almost deserves even higher praise for Page's phenomenal acting, which shines like a beacon in many scenes. But ultimately, a great actor can fixed a funky script. It's a good, intimate, grungy movie. And it's fine for what it is. But it can never really escape itself and transcend into something more.
The acting and intelligent and very believable dialogue had me slack jawed.
Amazing and Elliot Page owns this role
I liked it. I was drawn into the relationship between the young girl and the boyfriends mother..... such a lot going on. The movie had a lot of great stories that were well done and I even ended up liking the police detective that was after Tallulah. I didn't give 5 stars as I was let kind of wondering was going on with the end and the floating women etc.......I think I get that was a lost soul and finally reached out and came down to earth but it was a little to out there.......great movie ......watch it.
The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions.. That About Sums Up What Happens Here.. It's Got Some Troubling Tones, Which Builds Some Interesting Questions, But There's Little Here In The Way Of Any Resolutions.
Maybe a chick flick but me, a regular guy, still find it warm and interesting. The script is smooth and believable.
Such a well-crafted screen play. You learned to love every character, even the minor roles.
Good film but hard to watch because it is not another hollywood story
The movie itself wasn't terrible, it was the main character Tallulah that was utterly unlikeable, stupid, selfish, STUPID and behaved like an animal. Did I mention how stupid she is??!! I found myself wanting to repeatedly slap her!
An absorbing, insightful and thought-provoking drama that fortunately doesn't rely on melodrama nor genre tropes, and instead provides a charming, affecting and witty narrative along with well-written characters and a talented cast, specially Ellen Page in a charismatic lead performance.
Janney and Page have such chemistry it is a joy to watch them together again.
Ellen Page and Allison Janney form a relationship worth watching and loving their characters with a baby under their wing. Love the film and the actors are worth watching.
"Overcomes its flirtations with melodrama" ... No way Jose. Schlockiest thing I've seen in a long time.
I loved this movie from beginning to end, and while the story may not stick in my mind as much as others and is a fairly predictable plot, the characters are wonderfully complicated. The film allows you to have compassion for each one despite their flaws and leaves you bittersweet at the end.
Enjoyable film with phenomenal acting and character development; although the plot line was obviously stretched to reach certain ends, production value was still a strong suit.
Loved it, a gorgeous story of personal growth. Captivating and uplifting, Especially loved final scene.
I really enjoyed this drama carefully constructed by Sian Heder. I felt as though I completely connected with Ellen Page's character as she is so free spirited and speaks her mind. She is also very independent and wild at heart and I love that! The movie holistically had a really nice vibe to it even though the situations got kinda hairy towards the end. But I definitely feel my time was spent well watching this (2hr) movie. The story was slow paced but not in a boring, dragging my feet in the dirt kind of way. It had lots of nice humorous lines and kept me entertained as the plot unfolded. Another feel good movie with a brilliant cast.
