Desmond Ryan Philadelphia Inquirer It works its strange alchemy with riveting force… With this extraordinary film, Scorsese confirms his standing among our finest young directors. It is, among other things, a testament to the versatility that last produced Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Kevin Kelly Boston Globe Taxi Driver is so volatile it nearly explodes from the screen. Under Martin Scorsese's brilliant direction, it works a dramatic tension that is inescapable, carefully, systematically straitjacketing its audience in the problems of its central character. Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Gene Siskel Chicago Tribune Remove the cataclysmic ending from Taxi Driver and it would be one smashingly good motion picture. As it stands, the film is beautiful to look at, exciting to listen to, but much too much to stomach. Rated: 3/4 Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Wael Khairy The Cinephile Fix The viewer has no choice, we are forced to breathe the air, gaze through the pupils, and experience the city by slipping into the shoes of a twisted protagonist, the shoe laces tightly tied by none other than a master of his craft, Scorsese. Apr 21, 2025 Full Review Bianca Garner Filmotomy Bickle was a warning to all of us, on what can occur if we push people to the edges of society. Ernie K Memorable performances throughout, particularly from Robert De Niro as a man who's lost but through the depth of existence as an NYC cab driver traces an unforgettable route of realization and discovery. Scorsese's taught direction and the wonderful support of Jodie Foster and Harvey Keitel among many others assist in this riveting ride of a man finding salvation within madness. A must-see for certain. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/24/25 Full Review Niza R A captivating story about a New York cabbie. Stories like these dive into a realistic day to day living in NYC, Robert De Niro demonstrates an incredible job doing exactly that. The plot of the movie is very realistic with a sudden twist that makes the story hard to navigate. The best part of that is that it really helps you realize by the end the way of thinking Travis was feeling. The overwhelming feeling of loneliness makes you long for purpose, and sometimes you live long enough that the purpose you long for can make you a hero Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/25 Full Review Raul R La vi un viernes a las 12 am, fue de las mejores experiencias de mi vida, peak movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/25 Full Review Dom N A decent movie, with beautiful lighting, but an ultimately shallow story and characters that didn't hit me in any meaningful way. Travis is the world's biggest screw up and in the end nothing bad comes of it. The final few minutes also fall very flat. If the movie ended about 5 minutes sooner it would be a bit better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/26/25 Full Review Frans B Scorsese really hit this one right out of the park. De Niro truly shines here. Intrigue, awe, depth, action, enough emotion. Do not miss this one Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/19/25 Full Review Christopher D Don't be afraid to get help, there is nothing shameful about it.
