Entertaining movie. Lots of humor without needing to cuss or be vulgar. I love raunchy comedies and this movie was funny without being crude. Great casting. Good pacing

This showbiz movie was really good. Tom Everett Scott, Liv Tyler, Tom Hanks, Steve Zahn, Johnathon Schaech, Ethan Embry, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. The story of the movie was dramatic and entertaining. It's about the rise and fall of 60s rock band. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see.

This is for those of us who have dreamed about being in a music group that actually hit the big time. A movie I find rewatchable. There are so many great lines that are delivered so very well. It left me wanting more so I saw the uncut version. The scenes that were edited out were very interesting. However I agree with the edits. The additional scenes tended to slow down the movie way too much. Getting back to "That Thing You Do" as it was released, I found it to be a wholesome funny story with some great dramatic parts. It never resorted to cheap cringeworthy humor. "That Thing You Do" is a great reflection of life in the more innocent time 1964. Without relying on previously released tracks the new music captures the spirit of the times. The soundtrack is a keeper and available on PlayTone Records! It's a shame "That Thing You Do" isn't mentioned more often in Mr Hanks film biography.

Great first half the movie. The ending is so abrupt it definitely takes away from the experience.

It's a musical comedy classic, a seasoned musician would agree on that, especially if they didn't get a record deal or big time venue.

The characters were interesting. The acting was good. The movie's depiction of a newly popular rock band struggling to navigate their way through the record industry and grappling with their own internal conflicts felt realistic. However, the film's pacing starts to stagger towards the end, and the ending itself just doesn't feel quite right. Like my driving after a night out at the bar, the script lacked the direction it needed to succeed completely.

I love this movie. Everything about it is right - the band, Tom Hanks, the women, especially Faye, and the storyline. This film captures the enthusiasm of rock and roll in the 60s. Tom Hanks, the Dave Clark 5 lover, gave us a fantastic movie about that era.

A light and nostalgic look back at the rise and fall of a boy band from the 50s. It's a feel-good film that's wholesome enough for the whole family. It's a fun enough film that it's strange Tom Hanks wouldn't have decided to continue with directing.

That Thing You Do is a simple story about rising to fame, but the fun is fueled by a very catchy song and a highly likeable cast. Steve Zahn is my personal favorite, Tom Everett Scott is solid as the emotional center, and Liv Tyler really does a fantastic job in her role, as well. Tom Hanks may have only directed two movies, but this is definitely the best of those two.

Funny, but how about "That ****ing **** You Do?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I remembered this as being a love story the entire way while That Thing You Do played 20-plus times. My memory was half correct.

It’s a nice little rock movie with some charming characters and a catchy song. Probably won’t be the most memorable film of the genre but it’s worth a watch to see the good cast
