Critics Consensus

The Brothers Grimsby showers viewers with a steady stream of Sacha Baron Cohen's edgy humor, but too many gags hit the wrong side of the line between audacious and desperate.

Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com A rambunctiously uncouth satire that's as disgusting as it is riotous. Rated: 2/4 Aug 15, 2016 Full Review Will Leitch The New Republic A couple of funny scenes, but it's amazing how quickly Sasha Baron Cohen's comedy has grown safe and stale. Rated: C May 26, 2016 Full Review Leah Pickett Chicago Reader Cohen, brilliant in his craftier and more avant-garde shock-humor roles, is too irritating to make this character likable, much less lovable as the story demands. Mar 17, 2016 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Not only does the humor fall flat and register as transparently gross-out based, but the plot is so loosely constructed that its only purpose is to propel the bawdy jokes. Rated: 0/4 Apr 18, 2022 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com The broad, adolescent-minded comedy pales in comparison to other, similarly themed recent fare. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 30, 2020 Full Review Sarah Cartland Caution Spoilers You will not be chin-scratching while watching this in the manner of someone reviewing a lost black and white epic from 1928. The only things being scratched anywhere near this filth will be someone's slightly grubby Y-fronts. And yet, and yet... Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 10, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Alfie M And this is are new babie..... Django Unchained Grimsby Brothers is most definitely one of most funny films I've ever seen for the full runtime it's nonstop with comedic points, the Elephant scene is particular makes me choke if laughter every single time I watch this British (in my opinion) classic. And to say the Action is also very fantastic to mix with the flawless comedy. "Liam Gallagher has been accused of sexual assault" had be absolutely rolling and that's a point of the my previous viewing I completely forgot so it was refreshing to see again. I completely understand Americans will dislike this film as for Americans it will not be funny, but on the other ocean's if your a Brit and don't find this funny I'm not sure why the constant pub banter, Brit pop banter and overall Sacha Baron Cohen is so hilarious and just knows British comedy (as seen in Ali G). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/23/25 Full Review Dai W I genuinely think this is a work of genius. In terms of how much I laughed, this film is in a category of its own. I had cramp in the back of my head from laughing. Clearly, reading other reviews, it's not for everyone but for me, its the funniest film ever created. The James Bond aspect of the film was as good as...well, James Bond. The shameless aspect was also very well done. Blending the 2 together is ridiculous but it works. Baron, you have a strange and brilliant mind. Thank you for this film. I truly loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/25 Full Review alan g Another but very unsuccessful odd couple movie. Fails miserably just like Twins. Shithead BC should not be allowed to make movies. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Braden P If you like his other movies this is absolute gold. Had me actually crying with laughter Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review Georgan G If you enjoy absurdist humor this film's for you. The sexual jokes were hilarious. The whole plot idea is a funny one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Terry W Quite possibly the worst "comedy" ever made. They should be paying US to watch this waste of time. Embarrassing and cringe on so many levels. Ended Sacha's career. Understandably so. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/23/24 Full Review Read all reviews
