The Estate Reviews
A mindless romp lead by a great cast.
I watched the whole thing, but I don't know why. One of those things you can turn on in the background while you are doing something else, without the fear that you're going to lose the plot. Predictable.
Dumb at its best parts, Obscene at it it's worst. Not funny. When they showed a cast member pulling out an unconscious homeless man's penis - full frontal - as part of a gag; I was over it. A great line up of talent, too bad.
Pretty good cast, a few pretty good belly laughs, but scattered in between rather weak, unfunny premise... 2 sisters trying to get their dying aunt's money. Just plain stupid and crass stuff happens, which I could have lived with, but only about 30% of it was funny. And Ron Livingston's character was the only empathetic character.
I don't understand the bad reviews! I thought it was hilarious and that the wonderful cast did amazing job. Definitely a lot of vulgar humor which I love. It was silly and heart warming. Very much enjoyed it.
A funny adult comedy. Don’t overthink it
Great cast but movie was horrific! Crude, distasteful and not funny!!! Don’t waste your time!
Anything with Anna is 5 star in my book ! Loved every second
In my opinion, the movie uses very good camera and audio visual equipment and the crew members and the filmmakers have played their roles very well. I really liked it.
This movie is a classic example of a scenario where weak and subpar writing and plot can be saved by superb performances! Fantastic, energetic performance by Anna Farris and casting all around was excellent and well executed, but the rest?? ….not so good.
Without a doubt one of the worst movies I have ever watched. From the grotesquely perverted conversations to the disturbingly disgusting actions, each scene launches itself further "over the line" of what is appropriate. Making light of certain serious subjects to be used as the fodder for a movie is a low class act. Don't waste your time on this one!
Very funny and great performances from Colette and Faris. If you liked Death At a Funeral this is in the same vein.
To be honest, the cast was what attracted me to this film but the results were absolutely atrocious. I expected much more from the actors, though the script itself was weak. It feels like something thrown together at the last minute without thought or ambition.
Very funny situations and well written comedy script. We just keep laughing...It was very entertaining, enjoyable and relaxing movie. Of course the actors were just great !!!
It's absolutely hilarious, showing quite well what family members are capable of to gain an heritage. Toni Collette and Ana Harris are at their best, being the character opposites, of the somber and timid against the brute and ready for all. The movie is full of clever, though sometimes quite sick and dirty, jokes, and one needs a strong vein for sarcasm and black humor. It's like a funny theater play on the big screen with the childish silly fights among adult cousins and the controversies one gets in a typical family battle, in fact, a heirs' war. One shocking fact were the looks of Kathleen Turner, who hasn't aged well at all and looks like an ugly old balloon, which, I have to admit, makes her perfect for this part of the dying aunt "Hilda". I had a great time. 7 1/2 of 10 points.
I like a raunchy dark comedy as well as the next person but I'm embarrassed for the actors in this movie.
Funnier than people give it credit for. Hilariously vulgar with a ludicrous script played to cringeworthy perfection by a great cast.
Shockingly bad, despite a great cast!
WOW! Dreadful film, awful script. Toni Colette, Anna Faris n David Duchovny are slumming in this crass, unintelligent slop. More laughs on 30 second skateboard vids on Instagram.
Spoiler alert ‼️ Beware ! The most frustrating part of the movie comes at the very end where the viewer is left unfulfilled in a state of agitation as the credits roll
