The Last Dragon Reviews
An absolute 80's cult classic film. Get ready to go into a time machine. Loads of fun and some really iconic scenes. Great fight scenes. I love this movie!
A timeless classic and a must see for all 1980s children !
The last dragon feels like a good bad film with really cartoonish bad guys and villain and the lead hero is either a fool or a goofball hero however really catching songs including one of the best 80's song by El DeBarge.
For me, the music really elevates this movie to best in class. Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records, produced the film, and his influence is evident in the movie's music and overall style.
Heck Yeah. A TriStar Classic.
One of my favorite movies
This movie may be campy but it's really endearing. The comedy is awesome and the late "Shonuff" actor was really great.
This movie is a classic!
This is my absolute, all time, favorite movie. I can't explain why. It just is. The music is awesome. The story is fun. It really shines with the cast of interesting characters. Who's the master.... Sho Nuff!
While this film has a lot of fun with its premise, there's just too much Motown indulgence to make it worthwhile to sit through.
Cult Classic! How can you not love this movie! Plus, you have Vanity in this movie too, C'mon now! And if you don't like The Last Dragon, you can kiss my Converse!
Cult Classic. As I grew older, I understood the jokes and what it was mocking at the time. Great movie, cool soundtrack!
Exactly what one wants in 80's fun. Possibly greatest villain ever in Sho 'Nuff !!
Hands down childhood favorite of mine. The villains are memorable and is very enjoyable to watch. The time period is dated (80's of course), but the film quality is not, if you know what I mean.
This love letter to Bruce Lee and martial arts classic movies is not so well made; however, it is delightful to watch. The characters are over the top. The cinematography, set design, and costumes are dripping with the 80's. The story is a fun, light story of a martial arts student in Harlem, NY forced to find a balance between his desire to avoid violence with his need to use his unique skills for good. The music is good, being a Berry Gordy production. Vanity is beautiful and good. Tiamat has become a legend from this one film, and he is perfect for this role. Julius Carey's Shogun of Harlem is one of my favorite characters. The film is infused with its adoration of Enter the Dragon and Bruce Lee and does not take itself too seriously, so why should we. Check out the various small performances from actors that became much bigger, like William H. Macy. The fight choreography is fun- not great but fun.
One of the rare 1980s blaxploitation action films featuring a kung fu subgenre Features all all black cast with a bit of romance and comedy sprinkled in Leroy takes after the fighting styles of Bruce Lee yet he still chooses harmony and wisdom over straight up fighting A bully fighter called Sho’Nuff Shogun of Harlem wants Leroy to know who the true champion is Laura Charles is a famous DJ at a nightclub and when she refuses to showcase an artist of a crime lord Leroy steps in to save her Now Leroy and Laura are both targets The movie is full of energy, filled with fun action scenes, rocking 1980s tunes even if the tone is all over the place Most of us wish to find enlightenment, we want to master to the next level, maybe there is no true master when it comes to the art of kung fu, true strength lies in walking away, and we can still learn some moves we’re not used to This has the vibe of a Jackie Chan movie but has a more than welcome African American influence behind it all So much fun to watch!
Sometimes you just need a palate cleanser. To go back a watch something you've seen before, to remind you of how movies used to be. Mostly, I like to notice the small differences between what directors and writers of "then" and directors and writers of "now" choose to focus on. That being said, this is a gem of a movie. While most remember it as a martial arts action film, it's actually more of a classic heroes journey. And a guilty pleasure. Is it cheesy? OH GAWD YES. But I feel that's what makes it so memorable and ultimately, enjoyable... Definitely a must watch.
This is my favorite movie
The only good thing was its music, everything else was cheesy and ridiculous
