Spend a while on an island of insanity, manipulation, and the haunting supernatural unknown that washes ashore from the depths. Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe are exemplary in their performances.

Truly a masterclass in comedy and period-piece filmmaking. 5 stars, 10/10, push this movie onto everyone you know. Immediately. if you dislike this movie, it's not the film, it's you. Cheers my friends.

Two crazy guys stuck together on an island with a Lighthouse. All I can say is Robert Pattinson and William Defoe both got snubbed out of Oscar nominations.

This movie is Masterpiece that, In a fair world, would win virtually every applicable Oscar. Visually Stunning, amazing performances, and on point in virtually every way.

One of the most gorgeously shot films in recent memory. Cannot more highly recommend for fans of cinema which is in itself a master class in scene composition. A second viewing was necessary in order to really evaluate the acting - which was superb.

The Lighthouse is an atmospherically brilliant puzzle of a film - with stunning black and white cinematography, haunting visuals, and a foreboding score. Taking many cues from The Shining, it's successful as a chilling (even terrifying) exercise in semi-horror (with enough humor to balance out the darkness), even if not all of its provocative symbols and events fall into place. You may leave the theater scratching your head, but you will be satisfied by what you saw. The film will stick with you after - as you try to unpack its strangeness.

You ever have a hard time forming even the most basic opinion of a film because you're stuck discerning what exactly it was trying to tell you? It was far more clear-cut a deduction with Robert Eggers' previous film The Witch, but The Lighthouse has left me pondering character motivations, supernatural themes, and even stuff as fundamental as the very timeline of the movie. In any case, Pattinson and Dafoe turn in some frightening performances, the imagery, well, does its job, and the story, at its barest, ingrains the notion of being nice to seagulls. Please, don't piss off the seagulls.

Beautiful and wild. I laughed until I cried. Would buy this movie to have it always.

It’s a crazy movie and you won’t get closure from it at all. It will stay with you for a long time. The cinematography is insane and it’s more effective n a big screen. If you really Willem Defoe then you have to see it

What did I just watch? Bad doesn’t even begin to describe this film. William Defoe’s character came right off the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Kept waiting to experience Rotten Tomatoes 92%. Huge disappointment.

It was good. Very graphic with nudity in some scenes though that was a bit too much and a bit boring in the beginning but then it picked up and got more interesting.

No narrative to draw you in, no characters to get behind or even remotely sympathize with, no journey to go on. Such a massive disappointment after the enthralling “The Witch”.

This movie can be interpreted in so many different ways. It keeps you guessing on what is really going on the whole time. It's very enticing and had fantasy, horror, and drama elements to it. To say anymore might spoil it, I highly recommend this film.

Easily my favorite movie of the year. This is one of those experiences where you will either love it or hate it. Be warned this is not an easy watch, it will challenge the viewer and offer no solid answers. If that doesn't sound like the experience you are looking for in a filmgoing experience I would say skip this one. If that sounds up your alley, this is a must watch in theaters. The less you know going in the better, but without spoilers I can say for certain this movie was made to be seen on the big screen. Every aspect of the production was phenomenal from start to finish.

I liked when he absolutely destroyed that seagull

Unbelievable! This is my new favorite movie, as I have never walked out of a movie theater shaking and with my mouth wide open gasping for air. Totally took me by surprise with its intensity which could of only been expressed through incredible acting and graphics. But wow, if you have not seen this movie yet, grab tickets at the closest theater as fast as you possibly can, but I understand that this movie is not for the typical person who wants to see a fast paced, action packed film with jump scares and whatnot. Also, this film is absolutely beautiful! Even the most gory and disturbing scenes were simply gorgeous in the way the cinematography perfectly enhanced exactly what the audience was intended to see. What a wonderful job, Robert Eggers. I cannot wait to see what you do next.

One too many bodily fluids for me. But actors did great despite the bizarre material they were given. Look of the film was unique and admirable.
