Samantha L The Longest Ride is exactly what you’d expect from a Nicholas Sparks flick—sentimental, cheesy, and drenched in romance—but here’s the kicker: it works. The chemistry between Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson is spot on. They totally nail that push-pull dynamic between a rough-around-the-edges cowboy and a city-bound art lover. It’s the kind of pairing that makes you root for them even when the script goes full cliché. What really helps this one stand out is the dual love story. Alan Alda as Ira? Perfection. His scenes add this whole other layer of emotional weight, and let’s be real—watching him reflect on his epic love story gives you all the feels. Plus, those bull-riding scenes? They don’t hold back. Visually, this movie is stunning, especially when the action heats up on the rodeo circuit. Sure, The Longest Ride sticks to the Sparks playbook, but it has just enough heart and a couple of twists to keep you hooked. It’s not revolutionary, but if you’re in the mood for a love story that’ll make you swoon, cry a little, and leave you with that warm, fuzzy feeling, this one’s a solid pick. Well I disagree completely. This is by far one of my new favourite films. I loved how it included two love stories, and they were connected!! Both sets of couples had to make a choice whether to sacrifice their dreams to create a new dream, and live new lives with the person they love. The film wasn't too long bc the story was a journey. I hate it when it feels like the couples in romcoms have hardly known each other. This film is realistic because it shows the trials they go through, both Ira and Ruth, and Sophia and Luke. My heart was so invested in this film, I cried through their trials, and was so giddy by the end. Highly recommend, a must watch!! It seems there is an attempt to connect the two and find parallels, but to me, it just felt kind of boring because I was never really invested in either storyline. There are some sweet and romantic moments, but not enough for me to care about anyone in the movie if I am being honest. I think the movie is shot and put together pretty well, and the performances are fine, I just didn't get into it. Overall, to me, this is one of the less engaging Nicholas Sparks movies and I really never got into it or got truly emotionally invested.
