Tom Ellen Empire Magazine Despite the compelling high concept — and some epic action set-pieces — there’s not quite enough meat on the bones of this dystopian follow-up to make it truly worthy of its predecessor.  Rated: 2/5 Oct 8, 2024 Full Review Jesse Hassenger Guardian Gaztelu-Urrutia seems to be regarding his own concept from level 0, treating it as a frantic all-you-can-eat buffet that may be snatched away at any moment. Rated: 2/5 Oct 4, 2024 Full Review Matt Donato AV Club The allegorical simplicity of Netflix’s The Platform makes it brilliant—a sequel seems antithetical. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 4, 2024 Full Review Mikel Zorrilla Espinof A film that starts out quite strong but runs out of ideas after about 20-30 minutes and then settles for being a sort of wilder version of its predecessor. (Full Review in Spanish) Rated: 4/10 Nov 15, 2024 Full Review Dolores Quintana Santa Monica Mirror The Platform 2 is an unflinchingly ugly and beautiful depiction of humanity at its best and worst, showing our capacity for rage and violence as well as our potential for love, forgiveness, and understanding. Nov 11, 2024 Full Review Kevin Harley Radio Times Even with plenty of shock developments on offer, it becomes increasingly tough to care who will be dismembered next. Marianne D This was so confusing & disjointed. They should not have made a sequel at all if it was going to be this awful. I thought the first film was incredible, but this sequel just leaves one confused & honestly frustrated. If anyone understands the ending - please- explain it to me. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review Mela P They should have stopped after the first movie. First one was straightforward and logical within its insanity. This one is just messy. Violence and gore for the sake of it. It’s doing too much and leaves you wishing for your time back. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/25 Full Review Russell H Not nearly as good as the first one. The last act lost me. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/27/25 Full Review Jeffrey P After a strong start, the story becomes only more and more messy, convoluted, and irrelevant to the greater central plot and the first film. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a film that started with such potential only to just want it over. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review Aaron D Talks a lot but says very little. Frustrating. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/11/25 Full Review Audience Member HUGE SPOILER WARNING: The fat guys story made almost no sense, and his death was random. Cut it off at the scene where they strap a naked woman to be raped and eaten alive. Too much unnecessary violence and shock moments Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
