By insistently trying to deny its purpose, "The Staggering Girl" only winds up selling itself short.

Haute couture connoisseurs may swoon, but anyone sifting for meaning in the oblique fragments of Michael Mitnick's screenplay will find fewer rewards.

While The Staggering Girl takes a journey that's likely to leave viewers feeling lost along the way, those willing to surrender to its abstract delivery will be treated to a highly-texturized smorgasbord of fashion and forgotten memories.

There's a few images and moments in The Staggering Girl that will evoke memories of Guadagnino's better work, most notably its final minutes ... That said, it's the script by Michael Mitnick (The Current War) that's the real problem with this short.

The story is so lost and inexpressive that it reminded me of what my teacher said, "Just because something has a meaning for you, it doesn't mean that it has the same meaning for the audience." Middle age audience may feel closer to this film, but I understood absolutely nothing.
Also I watched this film cause I thought Mia Goth is the protagonist, since her name was on the top of the cast list. But I found out that the list is in alphabetic order and she has a minor role!
However I loved the cinematography! Some of the shots are strangely composed and yet have the essence of beauty.
