A breathtaking adaptation of the manga series by renowned manga artist Jir? prime, R6.10.19 谷口ジローも作者の一人とのこと。深町は当初、登山家の写真を撮ることにやりがいを感じでいなかったようだった。羽生のあとを追ううちに羽生のエベレスト南西側単独登山を見届けたいという思いも超え、登山自体に取り憑かれたようだった。マロリーのエベレスト登頂の真偽は描かれなかったが、そこは重要ではなかったのだと思う。羽生の最後の言葉でも語られていたが、生きる意味、登る意味を明確に見出せない中で、ただ登ることによって生きているというのは案外リアルな感じがした。まあまあ面白かった。こういう落ち着いた語り口のアニメは好きかも。

It's a chillingly tense film. The story isn't the greatest and its slow to start off, but its simplicity and subtlety add up to a punch at the end. The animation and artwork is, I'm not kidding, incredible every single frame. The imagery paired with the music and story makes this film more of an experience than just standard entertainment. Recommended.
