Brian Holcomb CinemaBlend The film seems to be straining at times for an existentialism way outside of its grasp. This isn't Camus; it's Rod Serling by way of Clint Eastwood's High Plains Drifter. Rated: 2/5 Feb 14, 2011 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews Even by the questionable standards of the straight-to-video arena, The Traveler comes off as an unwatchable and thoroughly aggravating cinematic experience... Rated: .5/4 Jan 30, 2011 Full Review Brian Orndorf BrianOrndorf.com Kilmer's coasting, but who could blame him? 15 years ago he was Batman and now he's in the wilds of Canada surrounded by local actors forced to act menacing for the director of Hammerhead: Shark Frenzy. I'd be sad too. Rated: D- Jan 18, 2011 Full Review John J. Puccio Movie Metropolis You know exactly what's happening about ten minutes in and how the whole thing is going to unfold. de m Sad that so many can't appreciate this movie..just Kilmer's stares and wickedly calm and weird demeanor, is worth 3 stars. Sure it's been done before, but a dark creepy movie with Val Kilmer is worth all of them together. Nevermind I'm a diehard fan of All Kilmer ever did, and his passing on April Fools Day 2025, makes me a bit more sensitive, but I'm not rating this due to that. These unknown actors, did a great job..the premise of the movie is a bit more intensive than the others, which most here seemed to not realize. It's not just a creepy thriller with a most creepy protagonist, it's about what happens in our life can be revealed, and this dude seems to know about all of them. It's also about Karma, what we sow, so do we reap. Is he death come for a visit, or is he the judgement we all will go through when our time comes? He could just be a psychic psycho, but I tend to not fall for the obvious..I like existentialism and the conscience we all have, we ignore and try to avoid. However you choose to interpret this, it's a great lil flick that only Kilmer could've pulled off. pull off so perfectly..i miss him a lot💔 goodowhich as st Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/05/25 Full Review John H So obvious early on that it was pitiful. Sorry, but it has been done better before, and just trying doesn't cut it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Korra N Abysmal writing, stilted acting and poor direction make this "chiller" an unintentional comedy at times, and a snoozefest the rest of the time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Cinephemeride [ a very small film with a well-crafted storyline but weak and ineffective production which only finds real interest in the presence of Val Kilmer Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/28/23 Full Review Cristian s Bastante genérica, nada que no se haya visto antes. Igual la película se sostiene bastante bien a pesar de ser muy clase B. El final es malísimo. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/12/23 Full Review Audience Member The Traveler Was Amazingly Horrible. The Film, If That Is Even An Appropriate Word To Use Here, Takes Place On A Boring Christmas Eve In An Even More Boring Police Station. Things Get Slightly Less Dull When A Drifter Appeard With Some Murders To Confess To. In This Film Centered Around The Supernatural And Vengeance, This Drifter's Confessions To Murder Kill The On-Duty Officers... In Real Time... The Premise Actually Isn't That Bad. It's Interesting Even, But The Execution Is Horrid (And Not In A Good Way). For Starters, The Acting Is Piss Poor, Save For Maybe One Or Two Performances. At Best, The Acting Is Low-Budget Netflix Drama Series Quality. The Gore Is Clearly So Fake And Unconvincing. The Editing Is Weird And Choppy. And Most Inportantly, The Writing Falls Flat With Its Major Inconsistencies And Bad Dialogue. In The Film, The Main Character Played By Val Kilmer Is Seeking Vengeance For A Crime That They Are Supposedly Innocent To. Ok. Makes Sense. But Then, We Discover That The Drifter WAS In Fact Guilty, Hence The Confessions... How Can You Seek Vengeance For A Crime You Are Guilty To WHILE BEING A GHOST?? I Honestly Can't Believe That This Film Was Greenlit. It's Just Another Case Of A Film That Had A Useable Idea, But Suffered Terrible Execution. I Have Only One Word To Describe This Movie -- Horrendous (And Not In A Good Way) -- And I Have Only One Rating To Appropriately Give To This Movie: 12%.
