The Watchers Reviews
Found it tense but the plot twist was sadly predictable. Stilll worth a watch for a chill movie night, the plot is really interesting so I enjoyed it.
I’m a scary movie fan and also an M. Night Shymalan fan, but this movie directed by his daughter is plodding, uneven and aimless. The acting is good and there are some scary moments but it otherwise flounders due its lack of any other character development and lack of story direction. Too many unbelievable twists (no one before Fanning would have found the underground chamber because it was under the rug? Fanning just drives deep into the strange forest without finding out numerous people have been disappearing there? She goes down into the terrifying creatures’ burrow immediately? Groan). You can also often tell a that a movie is in trouble when it relies on a long, narrated “surprise” discovery at the end to explain itself. Watchers has that and a desperate “wrap up” in the last 10 minutes that makes it look like Ms. Shymalan didn’t know how to end this movie. Overall, Watchers reminded me of an aspiring horror director’s first movie they would make in film school—it has its moments but it’s overall sophomoric.
I definitely recommend this movie!! They should absolutely make more films like this. The horrible reviews and so called ‘critics’ should absolutely take a strong look at their lives. This movie was a great movie, the people saying that it’s bad and doesn’t have a good twist clearly haven’t seen the movie. Honestly, people saying it’s bad, not scary and bad twist, clearly don’t know what they’re talking about and are very obviously horrible people to watch films with. It was such a great mythical creature movie. I don’t understand how this was rated so low though? It’s such a great movie and it deserves to be rated higher!
its perfect I dont know why it has such law reviews
I wish I read the reviews before watching this - concept was good, it was genuinely interesting for about half of the film but then really dropped off. The movie goes for way too long, it could’ve easily ended 20 minutes earlier. Disappointing, very “meh” mild-horror film. Then I found out who the director was and it all made sense really.
Love Dakota fanning performance really good job
I actually enjoyed this, but I’m known for being fond of the strange and bizarre. The revelation of all at the end tidied it up well I thought. It wasn’t overly scary, more intriguing to me. Give it a go anyway. 😊
The setting up of the story, first 20 minutes or so, is so dumb, preposterous and silly, that it can only get better from there - and somehow it does, barely. Some horror movies have a disappointing ending, this one will disappoint you from the get-go. That's refreshing, more honest, if you will. Anyway, I've seen worse.
Just when you think the movie should end, the movie decides to be weird and have the weirdest twist you could ever imagine. I just enjoy it for the comedy. However, I do feel bad for those taking this movie as a "face value horror movie." If that's you, you will be utterly disappointed!
Most of it was great and eerie but became a little silly at the ending.
This was a great movie. I don’t understand the poor reviews. You can never trust the critics anymore.
While the film started with a captivating premise, it unfortunately blew its potential, leading to a growing sense of disappointment as the story unfolded. "The Watchers" did manage to be quite a spooky film.
The Watchers is a dark, mysterious horror that plays on fear of the unknown. I found myself constantly questioning what was real and what wasn’t, and Dakota Fanning’s performance adds so much depth. It’s one of those movies where you feel uneasy the entire time, but you can’t look away. I love films that keep me guessing, and this one delivered.
Ya know, I have 'actor friends' in L.A. who'd call this movie one of those 'the actors just needed to pay for their dental plan' type movie. After seeing Dakota in Equalizer 3, I'm guessing this job was literally just to pay the bills. This was originally on my 'Go see it in an actual theater' list because of the great marketing, but I'm glad I waited to see it at home. From the beginning this storyline was confusing...the pet shop, her having to take a parrot to some zoo, was the pet shop manager in on it with sending her to a weird forest, I'm still confused if the 'Elementals' were looking to take over the world, and why didn't it end with the parrot saving the world since the pet shop manager made it a point to say 'These birds are remarkably loyal'. The main (4) characters made no sense, the only real backstory was about the older white haired lady on why she was there in the first place. Dakota's character backstory was just that, some random backstory about her mom's death but didn't give me that 'OHHHHHHH!!!' lightbulb moment. Instead of being riveted, I found myself yelling at the 온라인카지노추천 for most of it. Just don't 'watch' it folks, you'll just get pissed off.
This movie does a lot right with its visuals, locations, and a well writen soundtrack that builds up the tension perfectly. Early on, the thrills are real, and there’s definitely some solid excitement to be had. That said, the plot gets weaker as it goes along, and by the time you get to the final reveal, it’s more of a letdown than a jaw-dropper.
Ignore the bad reviews. It’s definitely worth a watch.
No its not great but it is worth a watch. I don't understand the hate for this movie, because it is a nice little evil fairy tale. Seems like people will attack anything with the last name of this director. A shame.
Watched the entire movie was ok but really didn’t understand the last 10 minutes
Not scary or suspenseful or big twist ending. Just meh all around.
“You wouldn’t like me if you knew the real me.” Unfortunately, I didn’t feel like I got to know enough of the “real” you anyway. The movie was okay, I guess, but it left me confused. For example, the scene at the beginning where she puts on a wig and dresses up as someone else felt completely unnecessary, and the same could be said for a few other moments throughout the film. It seemed like filler rather than something meaningful or supportive to the plot. Honestly, it felt more like a backstory or setup for a sequel than a complete, standalone movie. On top of that, the stakes never felt high enough. The characters never seemed to face real danger or meaningful consequences for breaking the rules, which made it hard to stay invested. Overall, a little bit of a Snoozefest.
