Pretty awesome for an 80s movie, it definitely relates to todays world

Interesting concept. I really liked the fighting scenes, because they actually feel real, unlike some movies that feel like watching anime characters fight. I think that our world is essentially run by "people" shown in the movie. I wish more people would just put their sunglasses on to see the world as it is.

A very entertaining Sci-fi action thriller that's very ahead of its time with its still relevant sharp critique and satire of American late-stage capitalism and consumerism that has disparaged the middle/working class since the birth of Reaganomics that this movie critiques. The sunglasses vision sequences and the "kick ass and chew bubble gum" are iconic for a good reason, and the rest of the movie did not disappoint. The movie can be a bit sloppy and awkward at times, mostly near the end, but its sharp satire, charismatic lead performances, and suspenseful action sequences more than makes up for its unpolished final act.

Very solid movie from John Carpenter about Earth being controlled by an alien species- is a humorous commentary on consumerism and media manipulation. Wrestler Roddy Piper is obviously convincing in the fights and action sequences although his reactions seem a bit too laidback for a lot of the dialogue. Sometimes he springs to life with a sense of urgency however and the pacing picks up as a result. A fun, dystopian film if that can be said.

Scary concept bad execution and amateur attempt at best.

🍅 6.5/10 Bro, got his GTA moment. I wanted to like this a lot more I really like the design of the creatures and the idea is very good. I liked a lot of the beginning but I feel like it doesn’t fully go for it. Still really enjoyable but I guess i was just a bit disappointed. And it doesn’t really flow well in my opinion. Still the end and the bank scene were really fun.

A classic 80s action movie!

Wow… I went into this movie without knowing a thing, just thinking it was a horror movie, just to be surprised by what unfolded. This movie has a very interesting twist with a very good execution, making it believable and shocking at the same time. The makeup is on point and the effects are good, helping the believability of it all. With a, still, modern plot, the film achieves a narrative that truly discusses issues that still roam society. The only problems with the movie are the extensive action sequences. While the movie has, as previously said, a fantastic story, it unfortunately resorts to a lot of action packed sequences that take too much time and eventually feel saturated. It’s interesting how the director of Halloween, that has very good “fight” scenes can repeat the quality but this time making it a bit tiring.

Brutally underrated, a true masterpiece that show us how the powers that be are ruling our lives, Carpenter did a wonderful job.

I enjoy the movie because it felt very strange at the start the middle was pretty thrilling and I think I understood the political stand point of the movie but the ending felt a bit too quick and very unsolved like now they know they are aliens or whatever they are but like nothing really happens,I guess it this is where your imagination comes in to fill in the gaps but for me the ending felt empty,but a thrilling watch ,would watch again

The cult classic that a lot of people love to love in retrospect has an interesting premise but lacks severely in its realization. Ideas and dialogue are underdeveloped and Piper provides little depth to scenes that already feel juvenile. Most of all I can't figure out what the target audience is.

An underrated genre gem that rings just as true today as it did over 30 years ago, They Live is one of John Carpenter's most intelligent films. If only the action sequences were as captivating as the plot.

Well, there went a few brain cells down the drain. Ironically, I’ve seen better acting on Pro Wrestling. Characters actions make absolutely no sense. Pointless drug out fight scene. Switching scenes right in the middle of action to the next day? I mean, it’s not not even so bad, it’s good. The cherry on the top is an alien using the Ghostbusters PKE meter as a communication device. I would not obey if they’d erase all memories of what is especially a porn movie with no sex.

Some strange plotholes here and there and a cliffhanger ending, but in the end this is a almost-perfect mix between sci-fi, horror and action while also having the good ol' social critique.

I’ve seen this about 10 times. Bloody brilliant Sci-Fi!!! 😎
