Trapped in Paradise Reviews

...a just-barely watchable endeavor that receives plenty of mileage out of the charming efforts of its various performers...

| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Dec 11, 2022

Has enough in the way of sentiment and goofy situational predicaments to put it over as a serviceable family holiday attraction.

This silly action comedy mixes brilliant production design -- it looks like a Norman Rockwell painting come to life -- and cloying sentimentality to no good effect.

| Original Score: 2/4 | Sep 16, 2008

Even the weather seems tailored to the script's shifting needs.

Cage looks cold most of the time, and has retractable stubble. The rest of the cast look like they're waiting for summer.

Harmless and totally familiar, it's better than static and informercials, but that's about the sum of it.

It's a minor holiday miracle that this homey comedy barely elicits even a chuckle.

The question is, can a trio of amiable goofballs take you through a movie that's, well, not so great?

In no circumstances, even under threat of torture, admit to anyone that you were suckered into seeing this, one of the worst movies of the year.

It should be preserved by the Library of Congress, as an example of creative desperation. It plays like a documentary about a group of actors forced to perform in a screenplay that contains not one single laugh, or moment of wit, or flash of intelligence.

None of this is funny.

| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Jan 1, 2000

Undoubtedly, this is a movie only a Scrooge could love.

| Original Score: 0/5 | Jan 1, 2000

Considering that there isn't a single laugh in the whole picture, the term 'comedy' must be used loosely.
