Firefighters Vince (Bill Paxton) and Don (William Sadler) venture into gang-infested territory to find gold that's been hidden inside an abandoned building. But when they witness a murder, they become the targets of crime lord King James (Ice-T) and his underling Savon (Ice Cube). Fortunately, the treasure hunters have kidnapped a bargaining chip: King James' half-brother, Lucky (Devoreaux White). But this might not be enough to get them -- and their gold -- out of the building intact.

The film purportedly takes place in Fort Smith, AR, wherein I live. I know fireman here, and they are nothing like this. The people who wrote this never set foot in Arkansas, and insult the people who live here. I am not an AR native, but I have taught here for 38 years, and the assumption that everyone here is like this is wrong and dubious.

Crackling action film from director Walter Hill ("The Warriors" "48hrs" "Streets of Fire") and writers Bob Gale & Robert Zemeckis ("Used Cars" "Back to the Future" "Bordello of Blood"). Bill Paxton and William Sadler play firefighters who stumble upon a treasure map leading to stolen gold, but while poking through an abandoned factory they end up witnesses to a gangland execution by Ice-T, Ice Cube, Glenn Plummer, Tiny Lister, and other familiar tough guy character actors. From there, "Trespass" becomes a smart siege film, with the firefighters locked in a secure room with Ice-T's little brother as a hostage while the bad guys outside try to figure their way in. There's also a colorful Art Evans ("Die Hard 2" "Fright Night") as a homeless man who happens to be trapped in the factory with them. Gale and Zemeckis craft a smart script with themes of greed, race, and class, with many echos of "Treasure of the Sierra Madre," which is an interesting change of pace for the two given their films usually have a lighter touch. Hill shoots the film fast and dirty, with his usual panache for muscular action sequences that mix M온라인카지노추천 style of editing with Peckinpah and Fuller styles of gritty brutality. Top that off with an excellent score by Ry Cooder and you have what is arguably one of Hill's best films.
