Trust Reviews
Clive Owen’s character was so annoying. The guy thought he was being helpful. It would have been better if from another perspective.
Directed by former Friends tv star David Schwimmer this would be the last thing you’d expect to make his debut as a filmmaker But it’s very hard hitting This focuses on a 14 year old girl Annie talking to an older man online via chatroom She thinks it’s all innocent and romantic, she’s also surprised learning he’s much older meeting in person It isn’t long though until she’s sexually assaulted by him and one of her friends outs her to the school principal Her parents now have to deal with the fallout working with the authorities to track this man down and arrest him It also takes a long while for Annie to fully understand that this man basically groomed her and did not care for her in the slightest The film focuses less on finding the perpetrator and centers more around the aftermath of the trauma of the crime The father actually gets more focus here than the daughter which is strange And the ending is highly unsatisfactory since nothing gets resolved Schwimmer has good actors but he can’t really keep the tension up for a majority of the running time
It is a decent movie about a young girl of 14 who falls victim to a sexual predator she meets on line and the effects this event has to her and her family. There is no gratuitous nudity or sex scenes. The ending also is clever because there is no perfect resolution. When the final credits are projected the perpetrator has not been caught and instead we see him having a good time with his friends and family
too much of a tween movie for adults
The film "Trust" delivers a powerful and unsettling experience that leaves a knot in your stomach. Throughout the viewing, I found myself torn between my desire to keep watching and the unsettling nature of the story. Ultimately, I was eager to see justice served and for the perpetrator to face consequences. The plot centers around a young girl who becomes the target of a 35-year-old man posing as a teenager. He manipulates and grooms her into engaging in sexual acts, all while maintaining a facade of being much younger. It’s later revealed that he is a school teacher from another state who has a troubling history of similar offenses. While the film makes it clear that this man has a pattern of predatory behavior, it falls short of providing a satisfying resolution. Despite the involvement of FBI agents who highlight his criminal history, the story concludes without any real accountability for the offender. This lack of a definitive ending left me feeling unsettled, as it seemed to reflect a grim reality without offering closure. Overall, while "Trust" is a decent film, it doesn’t rise to blockbuster status and is not something I would choose to revisit. It's certainly not suitable for children, given the disturbing subject matter and the harrowing experiences faced by the young protagonist. Watching her struggle is truly heartbreaking.
This was intense, emotional and speaks to a different perspective. The cast made it better.
A hard to watch film about a sexual predator who assaults a teenager. The father and the daughter give extremely powerful performances through out.
It's a curious case of a serious filmmaker being tasked with making a feature film that almost seems to serve as a long narrative-based educational video about the real dangers of the internet. In other words, it's the most cinematic and well-acted PSA-feature film hybrid of all time.
Very Lifetime-ish only with multiple big names, it does make some strides to shake that feel but not by much.
Superb acting and an eye-opener for anyone not having the full awareness of the subtle and devious activities that is grooming.
Felt like watching a high-class Lifetime movie. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've seen similar stories in Lifetime movies, but the cast elevates it so much. Liana Liberato especially gives an excellent true-to-life performance.
A movie that everyone should watch this Drama is a fantastic movie that is not for the faint of heart but it's an emotional movie that touches on a serious issue that is still going on.
As someone who has been through a couple of similar scenarios, I thought that the film very accurately depicted the build-up, shame and family drama that accompanies this situation. It was very tastefully edited, and the scene that depicted the rape kit was jarring and impactful. The lead character's journey in realizing that she was sexually assaulted was very powerful and hard to watch, and her family's reaction was realistic... If you came from a good family. All in all, this film is very real, and I was surprised to see something I expected to be a Lifetime movie be so ruthless and candid.
On the one hand, nowadays cyber criminal specialists can find anyone and imprison him. But on the other hand, if such people will use apps like Utopia p2p they will never be found due to the total privacy. I came to a question is it good to be fully anonymous online. Anyway, the movie made me feel really bad.
Liana Liberato puts in a compelling performance as a fourteen year old groomed on the internet by a much older man. Normally, watching these types of movies there is always a happy ending. However, there is neither a happy ending nor a bad ending. At first I thought that it wasn't an ending that I liked. However, in retrospect, it ended the right way.
This movie is defiantly a straight-up drama, so don’t expect any real action. I pretty much predicted the gist of the story early on, although it had a bit of twist that I didn’t see coming about mid-way in. I absolutely HATED the ending; which was rather disappointing really.
This movie fcked me up so bad I don't even know where to start. It looks like a common story but probably the acting & the directing makes it superb. And personal experience doesn't help much. Couldn't stop crying many times.
Terrible movie the whole movies makes you angry seeing how a 15 year old girl can't understand she was raped then at the end she tries to kill herself and the never find the guy who raped her. Then just to add Insult to injury they show you a video of the guy who raped her living a happy life with wife and kids!!! Wtf absolutely terrible movie
