Unfriended Reviews
Absolutely loved this film! A must watch!
This feels weird that I also rated Sinister with 3 stars but what can I say. Anyways, the movie itself is somewhat accurate and actually kind of creepy. Now there are so much that they could have improved on like the characters and I wish they did something more than do it on just a screen. The performances aren’t really bad and the Skype aesthetic legit made me avoid Skype as a kid because it made think that it was haunted and it would make you kill yourself. Overall, a good horror movie with major flaws that bring it down a ton. 6/10.
Effective horror. Interesting idea for a franchise that you felt had almost ran out of those interesting ideas
I wasn't expecting much from the premise, but it wasn't bad. The ending sucked horribly and if the main characters were more likeable and relatable, it would have made me more emotionally invested but they were all annoying, entitled brats. So I guess it was still good to see them go.
This movie is creepy and traumatising movie to watch
Unfriended is a movie that plays with a bold concept: telling the entire story through a computer screen. It’s an innovative approach that captures the modern digital experience, but it’s also limiting. The first act does a solid job setting up tension and showcasing realistic online interactions, but as the story transitions into supernatural horror, it loses some of its grounding. The ghost revenge angle feels less convincing, leaving the movie somewhere between a chilling cautionary tale and a far-fetched slasher. The acting works well for what it is, especially if you see it as a revenge prank gone wrong. However, the supernatural elements don’t fully sell the scares. That said, the integration of music, complete with playlist visuals, is a clever and enjoyable touch. While Unfriended deserves credit for trying something different, it’s missing the depth needed to elevate it to a truly great horror film. I didn’t hate it, but it’s not quite there either.
Thought this movie was interesting. Cool idea with the whole layout of the laptop and all, but overall the movie was just… bleh. No offense, but the acting was just cringe-worthy and near the end it turned into a tough watch. I’m all for unlikable characters because they feel real, but these characters just had absolutely nothing that made me want them to live. I was honestly rooting for ghost girl throughout this, even before the “twist”. Characters were severely underdeveloped and everything was rushed. It escalated quickly and it was just… weird. I seriously debated finishing it near the end and it took a lot of strength not to. Overall, if you want to watch it the couple days it’s left on Netflix or on another streaming service, go ahead. But I would not recommend spending your money on it.
It probably would’ve been better if I could sympathize with the characters. However, they’re all definitely the type of people that bullied me in middle/high school and I was rooting for their downfall. Maybe that’s the point. It had a satisfying ending, at least.
It's worth a watch while it's still on Netflix. You'll probably get very frustrated by the selfishness that occurs again and again. It is that way by design. A group of friends who are unable to admit to the horrors they've committed. Those who seem the most innocent, are the ones who are the most guilty.
I don't understand why this movie has such low reviews from the audience. It's the year 2024 and I still find myself going back to this movie once in a while. I absolutely love it. It's not your typical horror movie. It takes a different approach by having a virtual set up but it's very well done.
A laptop screen filled with equally unlikeable characters who have all done wrong and won't own up to it even with lives on the line - I liked the idea of this but it could've been executed way better.
Unfortunately I can't give this a zero as this is honestly the worst movie I've ever paid to see. Static screen full of unlikeable and uncharacteristic characters full of actors who can't act working from a terrible script that called for some improvised lines.
I was always curious about watching this movie since the plot seemed unique and creative with our society now being in an highly technological internet age. Shelley Hennig specifically gave a really good performance and throughout this movie’s run time, I was hooked and interested. What a dark and creepy premise/story and what a way to go about it. Twists and reveals throughout really kept me on my toes. Sure there are some very impractical things and some things that don’t make much sense at all, but it is a movie after all and it is a bit more explainable for what the film has you believe with its plot devices by the end. This movie delivered with how I expected it to! Very underrated indeed!
This is a very simple movie to it's benefit, and it actually has a solid emotional story to it. Unfriended does follow a lot of tropes within horror, but to me it doesn't feel tacky because it's actually got this core story with depth to it and has good performers who also have good chemistry together. So it becomes rather believable, and also intriguing due to the way the movie is made because you can see the lead characters thought process as we follow her actions on the computer screen. A fun experience, but simultaneously a sad movie. I enjoy revisiting Unfriended from time to time. Thank you.
Awful film - not worth a watch.
Unfriended has a genuinely frightening premise and it's executed with real style. Chilling.
I honestly liked that the whole movie is set to be on a laptop, I watched this in theaters and was 11 and constantly looking behind my back lol. This has turned almost into a comfort movie for me, I will admit the acting is bad but cool for a watch
Not exactly a slasher movie, but some kind of creative kills and some really really great acting and execution. It tells a very sad and a very real story and has an incredible twist at the end for anyone who's willing to give it the time of day.
a really good slasher horror movie but i wish there was some stuff that could have been worked on in this movie
This just falls flat. Some pathetic attempts at being scary.
