Untamed Heart Reviews
If you don’t like this movie, we’re probably not going to get along. Early 90s wonderfulness.Marisa Tomei, Rosie Perez..one movie…enough said,
Oh it's a sappy one. There are some engaging bits and moments of sweetness, but I fear a lot of it is just going to be deemed "problematic" by a modern audience. Which will make them less accepting of the more storybook elements. But this is peak era Slater and Tomei and I would watch them in anything.
Dumb movie which hasn't aged very well. Christian Slater is a "Boo Radley" type with a baboon heart; Marisa is a sad girl from the wrong side of the track- a damsel in distress that needs saving; and Rosie is her bitchy best friend with a big mouth.... Blah blah blah... Not recommended
This movie has so many problematic moments. He's supposed to be moody and in touch with his feelings, but his behavior is wildly inappropriate. He admits to breaking into her home and watching her sleep on multiple occasions. Yeah, not romantic. He doesn't want life saving surgery because it's his "heart" what if it changes how he loves? It's an internal organ…what? They start dating the day before Christmas Eve, when he dies everyone is still in winter coats. What's it been 2 months total? They are head over heels in love!!! Heavy with 90's dramatic romantic movie crap. But Marisa Tomei is gorgeous and a great actor.
Love Story without the script.
Director Tony Bill makes a modern love story starring Marisa Tomei, Christian Slater, and Rosie Perez Simple enough story of boy meets girl, boy falls in love then tragedy ends up striking Caroline just broke up with her boyfriend and works in a diner She has her waitress buddy Cindy and a new bus boy Adam in the back kitchen After she leaves her shift one night she is suddenly attacked and raped by a group of men But Adam ends up saving her life and from there a cute romance starts to sparkle It seems happy enough but little does she know that he has a heart condition Will their love be cut so short? Cindy asks her what she’s doing yet Caroline views herself not making sense just like him so in a way they both make sense together You can still live with your mind and soul not just your heart Beautiful music and Tomei and Slater have such sweet chemistry This screenplay is flawed but utterly sweet and romantic being elevated by a terrific cast It also mediates on the concept of soulmates and a melancholy mood around the holidays This is a romance with a dreamlike quality in a cold world
Although the main characters relationship with each other is questionable. I can't help but keep coming back to this cheesy movie.
Definitely a relic of a certain time in a young person's life. When things feel far more dramatic and emotions are far more intense. Not a movie I would blame anyone for not liking if they were watching it for the first time today, but I still hold a certain amount of youthful nostalgia for it. Having been a teenager when it came out. Also the first I ever saw Marisa Tomei in anything.
This movie had potential. The main chick was hot, and slater looked a little scary but I got over it. However, what's with the monkey heart thing? I have no words. And the random boob shot? Not that I'm complaining. Otherwise, unless you want to learn an unusual amount of baboons and a delusional teenagers obsession with them, watch this movie.
This is such a sweet love story; perhaps for romantics only, judging by the wide array of critic responses. The performances by Tomei, Slater, and Perez make this story go. Some will find the story too offbeat, but if you don't mind a simple innocent love story, I think you will enjoy this a lot.
just saw this movie for the first time in years, while it's dated a bit... Slater and Tomei worked magic. The plot is a bit laughable, and moments you feel a bit embarrassed that you're enjoying this movie.. but worth watching.
A sweet and innocent romance of two young adults who work in a local diner. They fall in love and experience what love is.
A great love story. With really good performances from a young Marisa Tomei and Christian Slater. The soundtrack fits perfectly with the direction of the film. An underrated classic.
The movie held my attention, but I feel like the actors for those roles should have been 10-20 years older.
Makes me cry every time. A great love story.
One of the best chemistries between a beautiful woman and a very shy, awkward man of all time, the romance is palpable, and you feel every heart beat.
Marisa Tomei is so wonderful. So talented, so cute, so adorably HOT! Christian Slater has always been underrated. Thanks to Mr. Robot, not anymore.
A little sickly sweet with some unrealistic sentiment, but it's a sweet romance movie with a lot of heart (No pun intended).
Being from Minnesota I liked all of the Minnesota touches. The charisma of a young Marisa Tormei is the main appeal of this movie. I didn't buy into Christian Slater's character and he is mis-cast as the strong silent type.
